Free Garden Fertilizer from Your Chickens

Every year we love to have a huge garden, which takes a lot of fertilizer! Luckily we have an abundance of free fertilizer from our chickens, since we do the ''deep litter method'', which basically just involves adding a fresh new layer of hay, to the hay already in the coop whenever it may need it. Then eventually it starts to break down and composts, while your chickens do the rest with scratching and digging.

It is also good during the winter, since it gives off heat. The last step is to just remove all of the hay from the coop. Then give your coop a good cleaning. Once a year you will want to do these two steps, and use you're fertilizer on you're garden as needed.

Hendoo is a lot like Brylcreem. It's so 'hot', a little dab'll do ya. Excellent for plants needing high amounts of nitrogen. You are fortunate to have your own steady supply.

I must admit, I'm a bit envious. We aren't allowed to keep domesticated fowl in the city.
