Freezing Frankfurters?

Can I freeze frankfurters in the packaging they come in? Or, will the packaging split?
Thanks :)

Ice expands so, depending upon what the frankfurters are made of, they might expand enough to split the packaging. I would use freezer bags to avoid the problem.

I have frozen them in the package with no problem. I like to separate them into 4 wieners and freeze together so I don't have to thaw a whole package.

Do you just use a freezer slider bag to freeze the smaller number of hot dogs? TY

Yes. Just squeeze as much air out of the bag as you can before zipping close each time.
