Fall will soon be here and so will the fall apples. There are so many ways to prepare them but one of my favorites is fried apples. I never was good at frying them until I ran across this recipe on the internet. I made a few changes and just want to share the recipe.
Total Time: approximately 30 minutes
Yield: 3-4 depending on how much willpower you have.

In a large skillet, melt bacon drippings. Pour apples evenly into the skillet. Sprinkle with lemon juice, brown sugar and salt.
Cover and cook over low heat for 15 minutes, until apples are tender and juicy. Sprinkle with cinnamon and nutmeg.

Remove cores from all apples. Slice apples into 1/2 inch rings. Measure water and butter into skillet. Warm over medium heat until butter melts. Add apple slices cooking for about 10 minutes. Turn them once or twice while cooking. Sprinkle the brown sugar and lemon juice over the slices. Gently turn all the slices to mix. Cover the skillet and remove it from the heat. Let apples sit 10 minutes and serve.
