Purple Coneflower (Echinacea)

Garden: Purple Coneflower (Echinacea)

This bee was on one of my cone flowers. I was afraid he had overdosed on pollen, he was breathing really heavy. I went into the house and when I came back out to check on him, he was gone. I am sure he was the hero of the day in his nest!

And he/she probably dusted some stamens on another flower--the little fertilizer. She/he looks very healthy. They really are heroes. We are having a problem with mites on the bees here in Hawaii. (09/11/2009)
