Hedges are an attractive way to define the boundaries of your yard and garden. Unlike privacy fences, hedges can be used to create an almost impenetrable barrier around small or narrow lots. They also provide shelter from the sun and wind, add year round interest to the garden and let you retain a sense of openness with your neighbors.

Growing Plants in Stackable Milk Crates

After my seeds are growing and in bigger containers, I place them in crates, against the patio doors and windows which are facing west. I am known to have at least 20 crates! The light and air can get through to all plants.

Sweet Peas and Rosemary

The woman who gardened here before I arrived thirteen years ago planted Sweet Peas that grew up a string scaffolding behind the garden shed. I've never maintained the string so the Sweet Peas come back year after year and meander through the garden. Though that woman is long gone, it is comforting to think her artistic spirit still haunts this garden.
