| Growing Potted Plants on Balcony in Cairo
I live in the suburbs of Cairo on the 8th floor. My apartment faces northwest, lots of dust, wind, and humidity especially in summer. I love plants, but unfortunately did not succeed with growing any on my 2 nice balconies. I am seeking advice, as nothing is surviving.

In the Path Garden I made a place for visitors to stop and rest if they want to. Two green chairs were donated. I painted flowers on the chairs and wrote "Stop and Rest in the Garden Chair" across the top and "Please Do Not Remove" across the bottom.

| Growing Tomatoes, Flowers And Veggies In Potting Soil Bags
If you live in an apartment with only a small balcony, have super-rocky soil, or are just down-right lazy like me, you can grow tomatoes, flowers and other plants in the same bag the potting soil comes in! All you do is poke drainage holes on one side of the bag, then lay the bag flat with the drainage holes towards the ground.

| Good Hedges Make Good Neighbors
By Ellen Brown
Hedges are an attractive way to define the boundaries of your yard and garden. Unlike privacy fences, hedges can be used to create an almost impenetrable barrier around small or narrow lots. They also provide shelter from the sun and wind, add year round interest to the garden and let you retain a sense of openness with your neighbors.

| Spring on the "Path Garden"
Yesterday two ladies came to my door thanking me for the garden. One told me her husband had died 4 weeks ago and would it be all right if she planted a rose bush in his memory in the garden. I told her yes, it is your garden, too.

| Growing Plants in Stackable Milk Crates
After my seeds are growing and in bigger containers, I place them in crates, against the patio doors and windows which are facing west. I am known to have at least 20 crates! The light and air can get through to all plants.
