Recycling Water Around The Home
Our two favorite ways to conserve/recycle water is using plants and pet dishes. Drop an ice cube? Instead of throwing it in the sink to melt, put it in a pet's water dish. You pet will love having cold water for a change.

Recycle Waste Water in Your Garden
A great tip for water drought areas. When taking a bath, save the water! Plants love the soap to kill off insects and salts for the nutritional value. We drink tea, soft drinks, milk, etc. and save those containers.

Using Buckets Under Downspouts
My husband never got around to setting up a rain barrel system under our downspout, so I decided to take matters into my own hands. I set out several 5-gal. pails, a large plastic garbage can, and even my wheelbarrow along the ground, in a line, directly under the garage roof edge. After a good rain, I was surprised to find all of them filled to the brim. Now I leave them there and continually have enough to water my plants!

Keep Track of Rainy Days To Save Garden Water
Keep track of the days that it rains on a calendar. Circle the day and write "Rain". This way its easy for you too see which day it rained. It will help you save money on your water bill. You will always know when you should water your garden, so no over watering occurs, and no waste!

Reuse Kiddie Pool Water For Plants
My daughter purchased a kiddie pool large enough to hold an adult sized raft. She sunbathes in the privacy of our yard (I already lectured her about sun damage) and it's less expensive than joining a country club.

Homemade Rain Barrel
This is the rain barrel we installed last summer. We live in the southwest high desert where it is arid, but we receive summer monsoon rains. By using our rain barrel, we used almost no fresh water on our vegetable garden last year.

Greywater Systems
By Ron Williams
There are lots of people out there both on the Internet and in books, suggesting that you use your grey water from the washing machine to water the gardens. But they are very short on the practical side of things about exactly how do you do it.
