Craft: Mosaic Stepping Stone
I titled this: "Success with mosaics." It is the picture of a stepping stone made with styrofoam letters and broken pieces of tiles used as the mosaic. The letters are made on a hotwire machine, glued into a form, and the mosaic pieces are glued in place as well.

Reuse Halloween Pumpkins In Fall Displays
After Halloween last year, I took down my scarecrow, but his pumpkin head was still fresh. I added his head to a bale of hay in the front yard for a fall decoration. My granddaughter asked, "How did the scarecrow get inside of the hay?"

Craft: Lettered Step Stone
Here is a stepping stone I designed and made last spring. Seems that stepping stones are perennial favorites on craft sites so thought this would be helpful.

Painting Clay Pots
I like to dress up terra cotta pots with acrylic paints. One technique is to use three colors or more and a sponge. You only need a small squirt of each color, making it great for using those leftovers.

Making a Concrete Bench
Turn two $4.00 bags of ready mix concrete into a lovely garden bench. This bench is about 36 inches long by 18 inches wide. I took some old 2x4's and made a form for the seat and two forms for the legs.

Setting Time With A Simple Horizontal Sundial
By Ellen Brown
Thousands of years ago sundials were the primary means used to keep track of time. Early sundials tracked the length of daylight through changing seasons, dividing the hours from sunrise until sunset into equal parts.

Garden: Shepherds Hooks With Lanterns
All the garden experts recommend adding height to the garden, and to that end I have almost 20 shepherds hooks collected through the years tucked in various gardens to draw the eye up.

Garden: Painted Strawberry Rock
A number of years ago I found (possibly on this site) how to craft a strawberry. My daughter and I had some paint, found a huge rock, took our time and fashioned our very own strawberry. It still sits in my front yard today.

Craft Project: Can Lid Chimes
Another use for those smooth can lids from the Pampered Chef Can Opener or from frozen juice concentrate. You can paint on a design of your own or use stamps. Just make sure the stamps are small enough to fit in the center of the lid where there are no ridges.
