| Fresh Mint for Air Freshener
I use fresh mint from my overgrown mint patch for air freshener. I gather a small handful and crush it up a bit, put a couple of bread ties or rubber band around it and hang it from the light fixture of the ceiling fan. I also put one hanging in front of the box fan.

My parsley has started to flower. Can I cut them off to prolong the plant, or is this the end of it? Thanks. Mary

What is the best way to grow a herb garden outside? Last year, I put several in a planting box, but did not use them often enough and it became overgrown.

| Growing Herbs in a Container Garden
I am interested in growing herbs in a 14-20 inch pot on my deck this summer. Is it possible to grow them in a pot or will they spread too much for that type of gardening? What herbs would be best for container gardening?

| Gardening: Contain Your Mint
Many plants, especially herbs, are very invasive and will spread and quickly take over your garden. To prevent this, place the plant, like this spearmint, in a container. This mint is planted inside an old ice cream maker.

| Harvesting Herbs For Cooking
How do I harvest these herbs: mint, basil, parsley, rosemary, dill and chives? I do not know if I should just tear off leaves or cut off the stalks/stems. I want the basil etc for cooking but I want the plant to keep producing. They are on my patio in pots.
