| Handmade Gift Ideas
My father is retiring in August, I want to give him a special gift just from me. It has to be sentimental to him, and personal and handmade. He is interested in wild birds, fishing and nature. He is a strong Christian man. Any ideas?

| Sugar Scrub For Mother's Day
For Mother's Day, I am making my Mom and Mother in law a homemade sugar scrub as part of their gifts. They are easy to make, economical, and much healthier than store bought scrubs. Here is the recipe:

| Thrifty Gift: Brown Sugar Scrub
I used an empty jar of mushrooms as a container for a brown sugar scrub. The scrub recipe was brown sugar, baby oil, and body soap. After mixing, I poured into the mushroom jar, hot-glued a fabric scrap from my baby's receiving blanket on the lid, and used a CD label cut in half for my hand lettered label.

| Craft: Elegant Clamp Jar For Gift Giving
By Debra Frick
My daughter and I found a whole box of these clamp jars at a yard sale this summer and thought they would be perfect for Christmas so we put them away. She had the idea that she would fill them with candy or nuts for her in-laws, since her father in law loves honey roasted peanuts.

These are very simple to make with flowers that you have collected and dried. Pansy and spring flowers are the best to use as they dry very flat, But I have even dried sunflowers in my flower press.

| Pencil Jar As Gift
Here is a cute idea I made for my children's teachers. This can be used as a vase for fresh cut flowers (or even an artificial bouquet) or even as a pencil/pen container.

| Funny Face Stuffed Animal
Crop a photo of someone until the head is about 3x2 inches. Use your computer to print it on iron on paper and iron on cotton sheet type material. Buy about a 10 inch stuffed animal (or use an old one), cut out the animal face and insert and stitch in the printed one.

| Have A Recall Free Christmas
By Debra Frick
With all the recalls on toys and with the toy companies now trying to scramble to fill the shelves of stores with lead free toys, maybe this is the time to re-think what you want Santa to bring your kids. Also with this being a year that is certainly going to be hard on all of us financially with the cost of gasoline going through the roof and people wondering how they are going to heat their homes, the thought of Christmas can be daunting.
