Drafty Window Tips
Here is a simple way to keep cold drafts from coming in your windows. Roll up some sheets of newspaper into a small tube, tape the ends, and place it in the bottom of the window where the cold air comes in.

Use Warm Oven to Dry Pots and Pans
When you have used your oven for cooking or baking and have pots and pans that have to be hand washed, place them upside down on the rack in the warm oven to dry. Do not forget to remove them before you preheat the oven.

Allow Your Dishwasher to Air Dry
To save energy costs, I fire off that sucker just an hour before bed time, then when it's done washing, I crack it open and let it air dry. If you are picky, picky, this will not eliminate all of the water spots, but your dishes will be clean!

Use Solar Power To Make Your Tea
I make a half gallon bottle of sun tea using black tea and another using green tea, 2 bags in each. I'm using solar power and the tea is never bitter. Now I always have iced tea on hand and anytime I want a cup of warm tea, I use the microwave to heat it.

Installing Alternative Energy Sources
Has anyone installed solar panels and/or a windmill? I would like to hear of your experiences. How did you get started? Did you use a contractor? If so, how did you find one? Have you covered all of your electricity needs this way? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Saving Energy By Air Drying Laundry
Hang your wet laundry on a drying rack until it is about half or more than half dry and then finish it in the dryer. The machine will last longer and you will save tons of electricity.

Use Air Dry Cycle During Hot Summer Months
Ok, I must confess. This tip is truly from necessity since my dryer's heating element took a vacation, indefinitely! After trying every possible solution to fix the heat in the dryer, I simply turned the gas valve off and began using the auto dry cycle.

Plant Shade Trees to Conserve Energy
I have a large shade tree on the south side of my property that keeps the summer sun off of my mobile home. This shade tree makes such a big difference that I rarely need air conditioning. It's a large cedar, but any fast growing tree will work.
