Place a Wet Washcloth on Neck To Stay Cool
I worked for years in a very hot environment. I found the best way to stay cool, is to buy new dish towels or hand towels. The reason I say buy some is the dish towels you already have might have a grease smell to them. I would take a supply of them to work with me.

Reducing Inside Temperature Without Air Conditioning
When it is 100 degree (F) outside, inside the apartment (900 SF) is 92 degrees. The apartment does not have air conditioning equipment. What can be done to decrease the temperature to 80 degrees in the apartment for at least 8 hours?

Spanish Moss in Lattice Shades Porch
This idea will be best where the snow does not blow. I live in Key West, FL. The HOT sun just keeps on shining on my lattice laced porch. In order to keep my windows open, and block the heat, I needed a privacy shade. I bought some Spanish moss, and stuck in the the lattice holes. The moss is like an air plant. No soil needed, and with a water spray a day they flourish.

Use Christmas Door Foil on Windows to Reflect Summer Heat
Window tint film is very expensive. I had an inspiration; what I call, a "light bulb moment". Having lived in Florida for years, it was not uncommon to see windows covered with aluminum foil. I used my Christmas door foil, to cover my the windows. It is much more economical having bought it 50% off at an after Christmas sale. My a/c runs less and my electric bill is about 1/3 less than last year.

Frugal Way to Cool Down
Wet a washcloth with cold water and wring out. Place over an inverted bowl in the freezer. Thirty minutes later you have a 'cool' hat to wear.

Fans To Supplement AC
In this heat wave I am very grateful for all the fans I have all over the apartment, which supplement my little AC units! I keep the fans on overnight to cool off the place with the cooler night air.

Squirt Bottle For Road Trips
I live in southern CA and it gets hot here. I drive 20 miles one way to work 5 days a week. My truck doesn't have air conditioning so I have a clear plastic bottle that I put water in. When I get too hot, I just reach for the squirt bottle and spray my face and head.

Give Kids A Wet Washcloth At Bedtime
When my kids were little and we didn't have air conditioning, I would give them a cold, wet washcloth at night when they went to bed. They would put it on their foreheads.

Dealing with Heat at Work
I work in a hot factory, and keep a spray bottle filled with water to spritz now and then. I also wet a paper towel with cold water and put in the middle of my bra.
