This Year, Recycle Christmas
I have talked to all my family and friends who are on my usual Christmas list, and shared my plans for this Christmas. They all love the idea, and plan to do the same, so I thought I would share it with ya'll!

Paper Or Plastic Bags?
Any interest in the paper vs plastic debate? Comments? I personally prefer paper bags, as they can be recycled curbside (and hold other paper recyclables at the same time), hold more, and come from a renewable resource.

Save Money and Shop Natural
By Kelly Ann Butterbaugh
With today's push to "go green" it's not a bad idea to try some natural products in the home rather than chemical products. Even more motivating is the cost of the natural products versus the man-made ones.

Saving Money On Soaps
I purchase a 64 ounce bottle of liquid refill 'Soft Soap' (it's quite concentrated) at whatever store has it on sale and dilute it with equal parts of water in to empty shampoo bottles, hand soap bottles and dish soap bottles. In a pinch I've even used it as laundry soap!

Use Fabric Made from Bamboo
Bamboo is a renewable resource plus it helps reduce the need for laundry. Now that clothing, towels etc. are made from bamboo fiber, we can all look forward to doing less laundry. Bamboo fiber has a natural ability to repel bacteria and odors.

Bagging Your Own Groceries
I have purchased several totes that are offered in various stores to use when I grocery shop in keeping up with being echo-friendly. The problem I seem to have is that the stores are not willing to help with bagging the items for you. Most larger grocery stores now have the carousels with their bags in place (plastic bags) so there is no room to put your totes.

My Frugal Life: Eliminating The Grocery Store
Grocery costs are one of the largest expenses my family faces, especially nowadays, with prices spiraling upward. My husband and I finally put our respective feet down and began working steadily to eliminate the "middle man," the retail grocery store.

Save Net Bags For Produce
To save bringing home all those plastic produce bags, I save all the net bags that oranges, onions, etc. come in and take them to the store to put my fruits and vegs in them. They have almost no weight, so don't worry about paying extra at the scale. They wash and dry easy too!

Buy Vintage Jewelery Instead Of New
Need new jewelry? Buy vintage jewelry instead. A lot of energy is being used making new jewelry. Also there are a lot of chemicals used in the mining process.

Buying Organic Clothing
I have a strange request. My father just discovered after years of a terrible rash that he is allergic to everything that is used in clothing, ie. the formaldehyde used in permanent press and most dyes.
