Growing Orchids?

I was given a beautiful orchid plant for my birthday and all the flowers have dropped off of it. Is it dead? Can I do anything to make it bloom again? I feel so sad to have lost this gorgeous plant. It is just the stems in the planter. Thank you.

It looses it's flowers as do all flowering plants. No, it's not dead, yet lol. My sister has several orchids and says some only bloom every other year. It depends on the flower. Be sure that the lighting on it stays constant.
Good luck.

Let me guess... before they turn black they start off a mushy green that when sprayed or misted leaves a clear mesh look? This is usually caused by over burying the roots.

Orchids are an air plant so they prefer to have a few exposed roots in order to breath.
