Scenery: Halloween at Cross Roads Village (Flint, MI)
These pictures are of my great-grandchildren on a trip to Cross Roads Village, a 1865 village in Flint Michigan. Everyone goes trick or treating no matter how old. It is a lot of fun!
Scenery: Searching for the Perfect Pumpkin
I took my children to the pumpkin patch this weekend so they could hunt for their perfect pumpkin. Snapping pictures, avoiding mud puddles, all while still trying to find my own perfect pumpkin was quite the task. But, it all worked out in the end!
Halloween Concession Food Ideas
I own a food concession company and this year we'll be setting up at a local Haunted House for the month of October. I have a few ideas, but would love some more feedback. Any ideas on some spooky fun Halloween concession foods?
My 13 year old daughter is learning to cake decorate, this was the cake she made for our Halloween party. I think she did an awesome job, don't you?
Buy Cheap Pumpkins After Halloween
Be sure to check your local Walmart right after Halloween for leftover pumpkins. Many people will not buy them after Halloween and you can get them for nearly free.
Here are some Halloween songs from my younger days as a Mom. I Wish I Was an Orange Jack-O-Lantern (To the tune of "Oscar Meyer Wiener" jingle)

Trick or Treat Gifts Instead of Candy
We get a lot of trick or treaters in my subdivision. I'd like to give them something other than candy, which they get plenty of elsewhere. I want it to be something they'll like. Does anyone have an idea or something they've done before that pleased the little ones?
Trick Or Treat For Something Good With Unicef
With Halloween just around the corner, many kids are already thinking about costumes, parties, and of course, candy! As a parent, I worry about the materialism attached to holidays, both big and small and the effect it has on our children as they grow up.
I love Halloween, first because it is the beginning of the holiday season. Being a gardener, I also appreciate it as a great time to celebrate the harvest. I think of it as a celebration of autumn.
Getting Spooked! for Halloween
I have no idea who started this (kind of the point) but last night the doorbell rings and I open the door. I find a white balloon with a ghosts face markered on it. Tied to it is a tiny basket filled with candy and two papers. One is to put on my door that says, "We been Spooked!" with a picture of a ghost. The other is a paper saying that often we lose touch with our friends and neighbors and many of us don't have the time to do something nice to a stranger for no reason. So you receive a gift of candy and are asked to give your own spooked candies out to three friends, family or strangers and not let them know it was you. And hopefully by the time it's done you and the whole neighboorhood will have a spooked sign in your window, have done a little something nice and maybe, just maybe, even something to start a conversation with. Happy Halloween. I hope you get spooked! By Suzanne S.
