Give Trick or Treaters a candy container if they come with plastic bags to your door. We live in town where we get at least 75+ treaters to our door on Halloween. Two years ago, my husband noticed some kids who came to the door were only carrying a grocery plastic food bag to get their candy.

It sounds so simple and yet so few parents do it. ACCOMPANY your children around your neighbourhood. Not only does it keep them safe, it allows you to meet new neighbours and to promote goodwill with in your area.
When Halloween is here it's just about time to switch from a screen in the front door and a storm window. On Halloween I take the screen out - pass the candy through it and the next morning put the storm window in. I did this when I had a dog so that she wouldn't bother the goblins - now it's just an easy way to get the job done.
