I have an area right next to the shower tile on the drywall that is very damaged and wet with mold and mildew. Can this spread behind the shower tile wall? And what can I do to remedy this problem? Thanks for any help.
Even though there have been many lawsuits, Chinese drywall hasn't yet been recalled. This Chinese sheetrock is manufactured using fly ash which is a waste product of coal burnt in power plants.
I just brought a house and added a shower to my bathroom. The ceiling above my shower is now cracking and peeling slowly due to the moisture from the steam. I have a sky light in my bathroom but the previous owners had a hard plastic, light brown material covering the ceiling. Do I need to remove that plastic material or install a ceiling fan to stop the ceiling from peeling.
I live in a manufactured (double-wide) home. I want to remove the popcorn ceilings and paint them. I've seen remodel projects on HGTV, etc., but they never seem to explain the process. Do any of you have the directions?
I want to remove wall paneling that does not have drywall behind it. When I go back to the sheetrock will I have to have all new door and window frames? What about the electrical boxes, will they still fit?
What's the best way to remove hardened glue left on drywall after removing old paneling? The drywall is in good shape except for a few X's marked where the old glue was.
I have removed wallpaper in my bathroom. The sheetrock walls were damaged with gouges, backing paper tears, fuzzy backing paper surfaces, etc. How can I repair this? Do I need to put a skim coat on it? Should I seal it before the skim coat with Kilz or Guardz? Any ideas or techniques are appreciated.
