Make Your Own Pillowtop Mattress and Duvet Cover
Several years ago, I decided I wanted one of those featherbeds and a feather comforter. Instead of spending all that money, I took two old comforters, washed them up and put one under the fitted sheet on my bed - instant featherbed.

Use Kerosene to Clean Wrenches
For the home DIY mechanic: to clean the grease from your wrenches, use a rag dampened with kerosene. Not only will it remove all the grease and grime, but kerosene leaves a very light oil coating, even when wiped dry.

Seasonal Flag Care and Tips
I like to display one of the larger decorative banners on the flagpole on my porch for all the seasons, holidays and occasions. They're nylon, nearly indestructible, and can be washed in the washer when they get dusty.

Vaseline to Weatherproof Screws
A handy tip if you are using screws outside for any purpose. Dip the screw point in some Vaseline, or grease before you screw it into the wood, or wall, this will put a kind of weather proof coat over it.

Shelf Liner for Securing Throw Rugs
My husband scored several new oriental style rugs - both an area area and matching/coordinating area rugs, which are lovely. The problem is that the smaller area rugs slipped on our linoleum flooring.

Household Repair Kit
I put together my own little repair and tool box so that when I need to fix something quickly, I don't need to go to the shed and search for the tool I need.
