Home Repairs - Free or Low Cost?

I am recently divorced and was manipulated into taking on the debt of our home and other debt to basically get the divorce over and the ex out of the house. I work, but live from week to week. I pay my bills on time, but do not have any money left over to have things fixed around the house. The foundation needs to be repaired along with things in the kitchen/window, junk removed that he left me with among other things. I will have to try to refinance the home within a year to get his name off of it, but there is so much to do. I just don't know where to turn to. Any suggestions?

Do you have an extra bedroom you can rent out to another woman? After my divorce, I actually rented out 3 (4 bedroom house). Two of them were just for the summer semester, so I moved my daughters into my room for 3 months. I rented the 2 larger bedrooms for $450 a month and the smaller one for $300 a month. The third room mate stayed for several years.

Local churches or habitat for humanity could help. You could also barter your services for repairs, if you do something well.

What city are you in? I've found help in certain cities online.

Hello, I'm so very sorry to hear about your situation. Your best solution, for many of you it seems, is to have a real estate investor to get involved. Not a real estate agent/broker but an investor with cash. So that way you win and they win. My aunt had to do it and she now has enough money for a new home with no repairs done. I was able to find her an investor.

Not sure where your location is but I'm in Brooklyn, N.Y. if any of you are interested feel free to contact me 347 683 9931 (Ashanta). If this solution isn't something you'd consider , renting out the house or renting in exchange for repairs on the house are options to consider . Either way I wish you the best and hope things work out for you .
