The eastern peaches are in the grocery store now, and they are juicy and delicious. When I get them, they are hard so I put them in a paper bag and close it with a clothes pin. In a couple of days, they are soft and ready to eat.

I haven't gotten any peaches lately that needed to be ripened, but I have been getting a lot of peaches, lately...all from eastern NC.
