Kitchen Mitt From Old ShirtsThe usual pot holder doesn't have five fingers and I thought of making a unique one that looks like a glove. You can wear it with your five fingers separate where it will be easier to hold hot pots. I used old and unused shirts for this project.

*Be sure to use cotton material as polyesters typically cannot withstand the heat and may melt.

Steps:

  1. Neatly position the shirt on the table and fold once. This will make four layers of fabric.

  3. Place your hand over the folded shirt, spread your fingers and draw a bigger pattern around it. It is important to leave some space allowance for stuffing and easy wearing.

  5. Start sewing the hand pattern. It would yield a better result if you use a sewing machine.

  7. Cut out the hand and do not throw away the clippings (small trimmings of cloth).

  9. Notice the four layers. Open in the middle and flip/reverse the glove.

  11. After flipping the glove, open one layer, particularly the front (palm) part. Stuff with clippings and seal/sew both sides of the glove leaving only one opening, for your hand.

  13. Get a piece of the leftover clippings, roll and fold it. Attach to the side of the opening. This is used for easy hanging.

  15. Hang in the kitchen and use whenever needed. Now it will be easier to hold hot pots with your fingers moving freely.
