Photo Description During the game drive, we could get quite close to the lions. Not that they were very interested in their surroundings; it was a sweltering hot day. Needless to say, it is still a rush to get so close to the king of the jungle. Game drives like these make me realize how fortunate we are in Africa. The reserve is only 30 minutes away from home, a perfect outing for a relaxed Saturday morning!
Two weeks ago, we went on a game drive at Rietvlei Dam Nature Reserve. The reserve boasts four of the big five, including buffalo, rhino, lion, and leopard. The lion park is a new addition. It is a sanctuary for lions that will not be able to survive in the wild.
