I am a little scared of bold colors so I have gotten stuck in a rut of neutral colors. I have medium brown carpet, a chocolate brown couch and love seat, and egg shell walls with an almost olive green trim. I have tan curtains now, but I am so over all the neutrals. Is there a color choice for curtains to start brightening up my life? Or do I just move and start over?

I am not a fan of wild curtain colours, but you might look for a pattern that incorporates a bolder, brighter colour into your curtains. You would need to use this accent colour in cushions, artwork, a throw, for example, to tie the room together.
Why not use Gold color, pale yellow or Coral color?
I have a lot of earth tones in my house. Many rooms are painted with Benjamin Moore's historical colors. You may want to look on their website and try different colors in the sample rooms you can "paint" online.
