Looking for a Games and Chat Website?

Yesterday, I stumbled upon a wonderful-looking games/chat website, like a fool did not bookmark it, don't remember the name, and now can't find it again. (I've got my computer set to clear the History every day because of some tech problems; so can't find it that way.) I've tried a Google search using the same search terms (as near as I can remember them), but can't find it.

The site doesn't offer that many different games, but has, as the site put it, "the friendliest chat room on the web"; it's run by a dark-haired woman who looks to be about 30s, maybe 40s and the site seems to be sorta geared toward middle-aged women on up. I remember that the site's home page (which I think has a pink background), in addition to the pic of the gal and her staff running it, had testimonials from members who talked about how nice the chat was because of the other members being so nice, no dirty-mouthing, name-calling, etc., just a bunch of nice gals chatting while playing easy games. Does this sound familiar to anyone and do you remember the name of it, I hope?

These are some of the site names I've *eliminated*: cafe.com; kongregate.com (bunch of dirty-mouthed teenagers chatting, ugh); gamesville.com; gamescene.com; gamedesire.com; gamehouse.com; prongo.com; modernsenior.net; iwon.com (I can't get iwon to send me the email to sign me up, sigh); or pogo.com (my ISP's modem is incompatible with Pogo's servers, alas).

If this doesn't ring a bell, do you know of any good games sites with nice chat rooms that aren't full of smart-alecky, foul-mouthed teens? Thanks for any help; I used to play on Comcast.net and on Shockwave.com which had nice games and nice chatters in the rooms, but both sites did away with their games/chat rooms, sob.

I don't know the site you are referring to or a site that might interest you, but I do have a suggestion. You remember the search engine you were using so that narrows things down quite a bit. Try to think of anything that might be a significant key word for the site. You already have game and chat, you could add adult (but then you might get pornographic sites). To eliminate most of them use "-" and a key word in the search engine. Like -sex, -XXX and -sleazy. This will eliminate sites that have those key word designators. You can put + in front of key words that really depict the site. This way those key words are not dropped when the engine starts doing puzzle work for results. So +game, +chat and maybe + social would be good power words.

Maybe I better explain that better. Let us say you are going to look for game, chat and adult on Google. If you do a normal search the first results will include all sites with all 3 words. Then the engine drops the last word and gives you results for game and chat. Then it drops the middle word and gives you results for Game and adult. Then the first word and then two words, you get the idea. If you put a plus symbol + in front of a key word that word WILL NOT get dropped. All results will have that word.

Now if there is a word that could give you bad results you want to add counter words with a negative - symbol in front of them. We know using adult can get bad results so we use counter words like sex and XXX to eliminate those sites by using the negative.

You can do the same thing with a site name. If you are doing a search for a book but do not want to get it from Amazon (for whatever reason) you can put -Amazon in the search and that web site will not be in any results.

Think about some of the chats or praise that you read on the website and include parts of phrases in your search. The best way to do that is by putting it in parenthesis. For example, "Friendliest chat rooms ever" will get you that phrase only in your results. If you remember someone using that term in their praise of the site you may find it that way.
I hope this helps you find your site.

If you can remember how long ago you found the website it might still be in your browser history. If you use internet explorer, under the same place you "add to favorites" there is a tab that says history. Depending on how long your computer is set to delete cookies, you can go back through your history to locate the websites you've visited and this will help you find your site you stumbled upon.

When you find, it would be nice to know which one as we all might like to try it as well.

Hello, I don't know much about all that but its happened to me a lot. Finding a site then losing it and trying to find it again. All I can say is to keep trying to type in the name on Google and yahoo search. Also, ask around, some people may know. You should always bookmark your favorite places right away, that way you don't lose them. You can go on your computer under history and it may show the site you visited if you have that lil' tool in your computer I think everyone does. Give it a try under options then your history. Your computer may have it in the computers memory. I don't know, just a thought. Good luck.
