I think I read something about not adding pineapple or it won't set up? You can prepare the jello, then when it's about half set, stir in the chopped nuts and cherries. When it's firm, serve in a bowl and top with whipped cream and a cherry on top.
Don't use fresh pineapple. Add the canned pineapple and other ingredients and chill a few hours.
