Making Laminate Countertops Shiny

I am going to change my countertops and was wondering if I could use Polycrylic on regular laminate. I would like to buy a laminate that looks like granite, but the laminate does not shine like it. I thought the polycrylic would add shine to them. Does anyone know?

Hello,
I am an interior designer and I know that they have glossy laminates that look like granite that you can choose from. Look into laminates by Formica, Wilsonart, or Pionite. I know that you can also request that a laminate that you order come with a gloss finish. I don't think these companies charge more than residential suppliers, but I deal with more commercial work. Hope this helped out a little. Buying a laminate with an already glossed finish will last longer than finishing it yourself.

Good luck! (11/16/2008)
