Making Your Hair Grow Faster

Any ideas on sure fire ways to get your hair to grow fast? I think brushing it stimulates the scalp and helps some. Are there any other ideas?

Thanks.

Now that summer is almost here, go outside as much as possible. I was told the heat from the sun helps stimulate the growth. Good luck! (04/20/2006)

A daily vitamin. Also make sure you keep your hair well moisturized and not over styled with heat appliances (hair dryer, curling iron, hot rollers, etc.) to prevent breakage.

I've found that Nexus products work really well as they have a time released moisturizing and nourishing ingredient. (04/20/2006)

It's according to what type of hair you have to whether brushing it will help it grow. If it's curly or tends to frizz you will only break it by brushing a lot. Getting it trimmed every 3 to 4 months will help. Every couple of weeks use a different shampoo, just once then go back to your regular. Always condition your hair. Just my opinion, my hair is to my waist and this is what I do. (04/20/2006)

My three year old son poured olive oil on his head and when I washed it out, viola, soft hair. I also noticed that his hair turned lighter and instead of his hair growing the usual 2 cm. a month it grew 4! This occurred in the winter so it had nothing to do with the sun. The same effects occurred with my hair when I put olive oil in my hair. Don't try it on curly hair. My sister-in-law tried it and it made her hair very fragile. (04/21/2006)

I use olive oil and coconut oil. I leave on about 30 minutes, then I wash out my hair. It is so shiny and soft I've been told by a Indian women from India, that they all used it for their long hair.

My mother-in-law cuts hair (she owns her own shop) and when I asked the same thing. She told me if you're getting all the vitamins you need then nothing will help. If you brush your hair too much it will cause damage (split ends and such.) (04/28/2006)

Yes, a little sun each day could not hurt. BioZinc Soloray brand is what I buy. It will work well, combined with horsetail root herb and any kind of decent exercise, from walking around house most of the day/very few rests, to stair climbing.

I personally have good luck with henna hair coloring, but it takes a whole day to process, is staining/has an odor of wet alfalfa mixed with coffee and rancid tea, which lingers

but creates the oddest and best natural coloring when mixed with red/black henna powders almost equally. Don't try this yourself, but find a stylist who specializes in henna applications. I cannot understand why it helps weak thinning hair to be thicker and more healthy looking, as well as leaves streaks and various shimmering colors like a child's hair. It takes me about 12 hours to get the color I want. Adding the essential oils is truly essential to be able to tolerate the odor. And NOT washing the henna out right too well on the first day, not setting
or blow drying hair, but rather letting it "linger" like a pot simmering on low heat, for an additional day seems to be one of the secrets to make it last longer.

I really love the color of mixed dark strawberry blonde (normal color is lots of mixed grey
and medium brown). It's also very important to use an average shampoo, but a clarifying shampoo should it need to be striped out/down a notch. I've been using it for about a year now.

I had thinning, slow growing hair, but once I resumed working in the garden/and in sun, I now have normal thickness and faster growing hair. Each person's hair, body chemistry, habits, metabolism and ethnicity has a great bearing on how it should be applied to achieve the best color. It's not so easily predictable, but if you can remain more flexible, trust God to both help it to grow and to give a better color to it, should you decide/need to color it for added strength, important to keep what one has from falling out before it gets long. Multivitamins/minerals are critical to good health and strong hair growth in this day/time of too few nutrients replaced in the soils. Good luck and God bless you. (10/01/2006)

I was told that if you put one aspirin in your shampoo and massage your hair for about 2 minutes this helps stimulate your hair to grow faster. Try this, this works for me.

Also if you wish use 1 aspirin, 1 teaspoon of olive oil, and two teaspoons of shampoo
add these ingredients apply it to your hair and massage for about 2-3 minutes. Then wash out when done. (04/26/2007)

I've tried aspirin and olive oil in my shampoo. It works. Even for black hair. (10/09/2007)

I have been on a few different websites. I use wooden brushes, but brush softly and apple cider and sage tea. Washing your hair with this makes it grow quicker. Boil rosemary leaves and use these next time you wash your hair, as it stimulates the growth of hair, like you have all said olive oil. Hope it works. (12/01/2007)

I put olive oil in my shampoo, then after that I boil green tea bags and use the excess juice from the bags and spread it all around my head. I do this every time I wash my hair and my hair was two inches in December. Now it's 7inches in March. (03/23/2008)

Mixing a few egg yokes, honey, and a spoon of olive oil makes hair in better condition and gives you length. But as a hairstylist, I would not recommend that you wash your hair on daily basis no matter what you are trying to achieve. Shampoo dries out your hair people! So this goes out to a few people who mentioned that they wash their hair everyday with shampoo, but only condition it every other day. I recommend the opposite, or if you find your hair still being oily if you only rinse it. Just use conditioner then, wash and shampoo your hair every other day.

If your hair doesn't get as dirty and lathers fast, then shampoo your hair only once. Do squeeze the water out of your hair and do leave the conditioner as directed on the back. (04/30/2008)

Most of these things will only damage your hair or cause flaking. The best thing to do is get a deep condition every two weeks and a roller set to avoid styling your hair every day with heating appliances. (11/22/2008)

Massaging the scalp daily for at least five minutes also helps. I do this and my hair grows three inches every month. (12/26/2008)

The holistic doctor I worked for and other people say that it's really minerals, not so much the vitamins, that you need to get enough of for your hair and nails to grow. A great source for them is in unrefined good salt. I have some Himalayan and Hawaiian pink salt that is packed with minerals and tastes yummy. I sprinkle it on salads and veggies and pasta and rice and whatever. (12/29/2008)
