CD case on windowsill with emerging seedlingsUse a spare CD case, add some soil and a seed, close it and leave it by a bright window. A pretty plant will sprout and grow! Great for a child's learning project or even a pretty, natural window ornament!

I test a lot of seed for rate of germination. When I do, I make note of how long it takes the seed to germinate. Because I had rather know when the seed actually germinates, rather than when it emerges from the soil, I am removing the top layer of soil about every day. By using a CD case, as you have done here, I will be able to see when the seed germinates without having to remove any soil. Great idea. Thumbs up and thanks!
