The US pet food manufacturing industry includes about 200 companies with combined annual revenue of about $47 billion. Major companies include divisions of Nestlé (Nestlé Purina PetCare Company); Procter & Gamble (Iams); Colgate-Palmolive (Science Diet and Prescription Diet); Mars (Pedigree and Whiskas); and Del Monte (9Lives, Gravy Train, Milk-Bone, and Meow Mix). The industry is highly concentrated: the eight largest companies account for about 85 percent of sales. So it could be any of the companies listed or many of the others that are not listed.The cuts of meat that go in to pet food are not the choice parts of the critter.
