I have a Maytag washing machine that does not start and displays "lid" as fault. I have to unplug the washing machine, and plug in again, then it starts the wash cycle. If this a lid switch that is bad?

Is the lid open?
Close the lid to clear the display. If the lid remains open for more than 10 minutes, water in the washtub will drain.
I think you may have a bad lid switch, or a sensor problem. The sensor may "think" the switch is bad, but it isn't.
