I have a GE microwave, model no. JVM1851CH02. The unit turns on, but won't heat.

Since you can get microwaves for as little as $60, or even less if you get them at yard sales (my mother paid $5 for one that just wouldn't wear out!), I suggest you toss this one (wherever you are supposed to dispose of them) and get a new one. This is one of our modern conveniences that it is not worth repairing, unless it is still on warranty.

Even tho microwaves can be $60, you shouldn't go out and buy another one (Kroger, whirlpool, etc.) when you can fix it. When you find out the problem all you have to do to benifit you would be you going on google and searching up your problem.

They will show you how to fix your microwave for free but you might have to buy some parts at a store instead of buying another one for $60.

I agree...Don't fill the landfill if you can get it fixed. Mine looks brand new but is out of warranty. I replaced it but want to give the broken one to someone who will fix it. Been sitting in my dining room for 5 months

A lot of times a microwave just needs to be reset. Just unplug for about 5 minutes then plug back in. It should be fine. My first microwave (in the 70's) quit and I bought a new one.

A guy I know that repairs small appliances told me about this. It also works for other small appliances that are kept plugged in all the time.

I have a Panasonic microwave oven and it wouldn't go on or heat up and my problem was the lever on the door broke. I looked on utube on how to fix it and also ordered what I needed by looking under google for help to find parts.

Most of the times it is the door switch, most Microwaves have 2 or 3 and when they stop working the microwave will work but won't heat up. Go to YouTube and look up how to replace the microwave door switch and you will find out how easy it is to do.

It will cost you about $3 dollars a switch so changing all 3 will be about $9. Good luck and even if it does not work it will be a good project for the weekend.

The only problem I've ever had is blowing the fuse. It's an easy fix and cheaper than purchasing a new microwave. The fuse is in the back so you need to take the cover off.

My GE SpacemakerXL Microwave Oven is not heating. Everything else works fine on it.
Model#JVM1660WH01 - Serial #HG900222B
What can I do to fix it?
