I need some ideas for a May 4th 6th-8th grade dance theme. I don't want Cinco de Mayo. Also, what could we incorprate into the dance?

Well myself being an 8th grader, we had a dance this past Saturday night. We did a dancing with the stars theme and it looked really cool so try it and see how cool it looks. But we did not all have dates but we still had a great time with friends and waited for a guy to ask us to dance. None of my friends nor me got asked but we had a blast as just friends.
We have had quite a few dances and the best one so far has been the 80's dance parent were dressed up and kids and everyone listened to the music from that time too. Another good dance theme was our favorite movie characters. but make sure you got a good dj otherwise it'll suck, trust me!
Well A rock and roll theme is great and that ways boys and girls go...plus its inexpensive cuz all u need is a dj, a teacher who will go around with a camera, some cheap possibly home-made decorations and food and drinks...ok maybe it could be a little pricey, but its totally worth it...and that way all the popular girls wont know how to dance to rock so it might let others show off their moves...oh yea
I own and operate my own DJ biz and I do a lot of school dances, I buy cheap beach balls and throw them into the crowd as the kids are dancing, It's fun to see how long they will stay in the air. I also throw out about 150 glow bracelets into the crowd (not all at once of course) the kids love the glow bracelets and they are cheaper than the glow necklaces.

i saw your comment on thriftyfun.com and i am one of the lucky people that got to plan for it and set up stuff so i was wondering if you could DJ at our dance i will get the date to you as soon as i can but we don`t have it narrowed down yet but when we do i will be shore to hit you up

As a teacher, I admit that this is a tricky age, but you may want to try the Cupid Shuffle or the Cha Cha Slide. If the students can't dance, they both give instructions. I like to offer dance classes a couple of days before the dance.
well im goin into 8th grade in my city nola 504 i dont care at all bout themes neither do 75 o/o of my frinds just get some good music find a cool dude with good music at ur school ask to use his ipod at dance for 20 bucks or sumtin and play top rated
The glow sticks give it a kinda rave feeling. We did that once. It was all crazy.
At our school, we just have a DJ. people come and dance all night. Usually the girls dance with the girls and the boys are all crazy and like to show off for the girls.
Ok I need help! This is my first year as a Student Council Advisor and we are hosting a sock hop dance! We have lots of door prizes, games, and AWESOME DJ with light show fog and all the latest HITS all the kids like. They do NOT have to dress in 50's and I have a little more than a week till the dance and have sold 20 tickets out of 750 students. WHAT CAN I DO TO GET THEM TO BUY A TICKET! I thought all the prizes and incentives would be enough. Is it the theme? and it's to late to change so what do I do?

At my old school in Silverton, OR we had so much fun. we had a DJ we had NO parents. but we did have the teachers. We could do what ever we want. We could get our pix taken with all our friends. Now I'm at a school that can't even afford a DJ it's so stupid.
We are having a valentines dances and we are thinking of ideas but we might do a blackout dance with only a little bit of light, or have a Chocolate Fountain! O ya baby!
