Miniature Pincher/Chihuahua Mix

I have a 6 week old miniature pincher/chihuahua mix named "Gotti". I would like some information on what this mix breed of dogs will be like. If there's anyone with this breed who has information, please share.

I rescued this little dog from a abusive home. She is a min. pincher/chihuahua mix and we are looking for a male to breed her with. She is very loving and sweet. She looks like a pincher with black and brown all over her. Please let me know. 11-3-07 (11/03/2007)

I don't think my miniature pincher mix has any chihuahua in her, but I noticed that mine has a curly tail. I haven't ever seen any miniature pincher mixes have this trait yet. If anybody has any idea what else she'd be mixed with feel free to reply to this. Her name is Roxi Danger :) 11-13-07 (11/13/2007)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

Is my 5lb min pin/chi mix too small to breed? I love her to death and would never want to hurt her. A close friend has a min/chi of about the same size and weight. My frankie girl is so little. She is a year and a half old and only weighs 5lbs. This December will be her 3rd heat cycle! Please share any info you have, especially if you have bred min pins or chihuahuas before close to this size! Thank you! Please repost on here or e-mail me at brookelauren88(at)cox(dot)net :) (11/13/2007)

After looking at all these nice pictures I figured I would upload an updated picture of my little guy "Rocky" ... he is about 4 months old, still having some issues with him letting us know when he has to go outside but is a good little guy "most" of the time :) (11/15/2007)

My dog's name is Chi-chi and he is a Chipin. He is very protective and loves attention. He doesn't bark much except when he protects us and our family. He is very sweet and very smart. We love him and he is the best dog we could ever ask for. He does not like people very much and is scared but he would never bark at children. He is 8 years old and a happy boy! (11/17/2007)

Pure Chi or Mix?

This is Bella (on the right). I bought her from a pet store thinking that she was a purebred chihuahua, but as she's getting older (4 months) I think she's some sort of a mix. Her nose isn't short and pointy, and her eyes don't bulge out at all. She's the best dog, and soooo adorable, but I just wanted someone's opinion, is she a mix or full chi? (11/23/2007)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I had never heard of this breed until about 6 months ago but, I have a Pincher/Chihuahua Mix and he is very friendly, and sweet. He is very sociable! He loves his toys and is always willing to play. He wants to nap nowhere else, but in your lap. I love my dog very much and he is a terrific companion. His name is Lagniappe with stands for "a lil' somethin' extra" I brought home from a friends in New Orleans. He is 7months now and a little over 9lbs, I don't think he will get much bigger. They are a very cute and loving breed, but love to bark! Mostly because they are very protective. My dog Cooper is male and HATES other male humans, but loves females. (11/24/2007)

Bowser is a little over 3 mths old and is my sweetheart. He is very sociable and loves to take naps and play fetch. His barking is under control but he is still very vocal. Now I'm just waiting for him to grow into his legs, haha. (11/26/2007)

This is my little girl- Isabella Lily. She is now 17 months old and I was told she's a chihuahua x silky terrier. She looks a lot like some of these dogs, and she is massive with the longest legs. A lot of people say she looks like she's got whippet in here because of her body and legs. Any suggestions on what you think? (12/03/2007)

This is a picture of my chipin, we named him loopy because of his big ears. He is 8 weeks old in this picture. He is wonderful with kids. He is a lazy dog and likes to sleep a lot. He has brought happiness into our families life :)
He is just soo cute! Now he is 4 months old and he loves to play and chase things in the backyard. We keep him inside and he is getting pretty good at potty training. (12/03/2007)

Hi everyone! This is my new puppy Weiser. I got him right before Halloween this year, and he has been the best companion. He does really well with potty training (although we have had our share of accidents). He sleeps with me in the bed at my neck, and wakes me up every morning when he needs to go out. My best suggestion to those who are potty training is to keep a good regular schedule with them. I hope you all are enjoying your ChiPin's as much as I am =) (12/05/2007)

Cali is a 7 month old min-chi. She is SO lovable. She always has to be right next to me and under the covers at night. She has been the easiest puppy to potty train. She is very protective of me (which I appreciate, being a 22 y/o F). (12/06/2007)

Sophie is our cutie Chipin mix. We think she has a little terrier in her too. These pictures are at 5 weeks and 6 months. She is the best. She barely needs a leash on walks. She loves walking trails through the woods, playing hide & seek. She also enjoys playing with the cats, dogs, and her toys. She was potty trained at 8 weeks and can sit, lay down, shake, stand up, twirl and fetches. (12/12/2007)

This is Ramon, he is a little over 4 months old and weights 6 1/2 pounds. I was told he was pure breed chi, but I noticed he looks like a mini-pin. He is the cutest dog ever, very healthy and alert. He seats, fetches and loves playing with his tennis ball. This pic is when he was about 4 weeks old (12/16/2007)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

WOW! Lots of great looking pups posted here. It's interesting that so many pups resemble each other and yet so many others have a look all their own.
This is our little guy. His name is Auggie Ben-Doggie. He is about 3 mos in the pic but about 6 mos now. Talk about a loyal puppy with a naturally protective instinct. I'm very pleased with how well he is turning out. He is clingy though so if you're thinking about getting one, you need to have lots of time to spend your baby.
Cheers. (12/16/2007)

I picked up my Miniature Pincher Chihuahua mix about a month ago, he was a pound puppy. He was 8 weeks when I got him. Now he is 3 months and just over 2 pounds. I was reading all of your responses and Kaleb seems small compared to all of them. The vet said he is happy and healthy and the cutest she has ever seen. I love this little guy, He is always playful and loves to take naps with me. I am in school and he is very easy to take care of with my busy schedule. (12/17/2007)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

This is Mia (chipin mix) and she is about 3 years old. We got her from Best Buddies rescue about 1 year ago. She is playful, sweet, incredibly loyal, and loves to take walks. She used to bark all day when we would leave the house, but once we started walking her everyday for at least 30 minutes before leaving she stopped the barking. I am having a baby in about 5 months. We are a little worried about how Mia will react. She is very good with other dogs, but not so much with people. She barks and growls at mostly everyone besides my husband, my mom and our neighbor. We have tried very hard to socialize her, but the behavior remains the same. I am hopeful she will see the baby as part of the pack. Any suggestions to prepare her for the baby? (12/18/2007)

These are wonderful dogs. My suggestion to you is to make sure you walk the dog every day and socialize him as much as possible. You will find that your dog is a great addition to the family. They also love to snuggle and just want to be with you. Good luck!

I have never seen or heard of this mix until a friend that sells her minpin pups had a little "accident' puppy with the chihuahua that lives next door. She gave us our angel, her name is Bell. She is very demanding when it comes to attention and she loves carrots. She makes us laugh all the time and I can't imagine life without her. (01/11/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

Your chi/minpin mix will probably have the best qualities of both breeds. Toadie, who is no longer alive, was the best dog I ever had. He was loyal to his human and dog pack. He died defending one of his dogs in his pack. He sat beside my dad. He was patient with kids and did not nip. I would let kids walk him. He was the best. He was alert and lively. (01/16/2008)

Here is my daughter's dog, nicknamed Buhbuhs. He is just a few months old here. When we bought him, he was full Chi but he now weighs 12 pounds and looks different than a Chi. Here's Luna at 2 months and 7 days. I believe she's min pin/ chihuahua mix, I get a lot of comments she's miniature pincher. Her active attitude is so much like a chihuahua, she loves to get people's attention by grabbing the back of the knees. Very playful and active and loves kids. What do you think her breed might be? I've been told that my precious is corgi chi mix, or perhaps corgi lab mix. She is about 21lbs and is the size of a corgi but has build of a chi (longer legs and muscular and not chunky at all). Looks more like corgi chi, what do you all think? (02/12/2008)

RE: Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

We have a dog of the same breed. He came to us 2 years ago as a stray, so the vet has given him his birthday, based on his teeth size at the time of his first vet appointment. He will be 2 on March 1st. He is an adorable delight. He loves to put his head down on your shoulder (like a baby) and is content laying there. He loves car rides. He loves attention, period. If you take a nap on the couch, he will lay behind you under the covers. He is smart, but took some patience to train. He learned how to play fetch with his ball in one afternoon.

They are quick learners. He loves to chew with those sharp little teeth, so small bones are good to keep around. We also buy the Iams small treats in the green bag. He will hide his bones in shoes, under beds and blankets. He will go and find them days later. He loves to take off your socks and run with them. Once he gets one off, he will bark for you to put your other foot out so he can take off that one, too. He loves to play ball and tug of war. He will bark to play and to go outside. Very smart. If you tell him to get his bone, ball, toy, or whatever you ask, he will get the item asked for. If you scold him, he will put his ears back and attempt to climb up on your lap to snuggle.

He still sleeps in his kennel at night because if he gets up, he will potty on the carpet. During the day, he can hold it 7 hours now. If I don't tie him outside and he sees someone walking by on the street, he will chase them on the street, and jump up at them until they stop to pet him. If he is sitting on your lap and at times, and if you stop petting him, he will look at you and talk to you in some whiny little voice (unexplainable audible) until you pet him more. Great with my kids. You will love your dog, we sure do.

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I Have A Chi/Pin mix. She is about a year and a half old and weighs in at a hefty 12 pounds or so. I'm looking to breed her with a similar Chi/pin mix. Cookie is not friendly with other dogs, and as a matter of fact she thinks she is the size of a pit bull. LOL. She is great with my kids but not so much with other kids. This is a breed trait. She took forever to potty train but when I bought her OUT puppy pads she started using them the same night. She is fully potty trained now. The puppy pads are the best way to train this breed. So here's a picture of my "tough" Cookie (02/18/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

We adopted Patch from the shelter when he was 3 mos old. He was listed as a chihuahua mix. After looking at pics on the internet he looks like he has some miniature pincher in him. I read that mini pins have a high gait, and Patch really prances when he walks.

He's a great dog. Very smart, affectionate, and playful. How about that under bite? He's almost six months old now and weights about 8 pounds. Any guesses on what else he's got in him besides chihuahua?

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I love my new chipin "Dolce"! I couldn't ask for a better dog. He's very affectionate and loyal. Was trained to go to the door to pee in less than 3 days. Plays with our older jack russel terrier "Eddie". We swear he's a bigger dog trapped in a smaller dogs body because he knows how to defend himself. He eats Purina puppy chow and absolutely loves it, sometimes he sneaks one of Eddie's big dog food and brings one over to eat on his little blanket. He loves squeaky toys and chews. Hes a very loving dog, I would definitely recommend this dog to anyone who wouldn't mind a playful, easy going dog. (02/29/2008)

When I bought my pup Bella they said she was a tea cup chihuahua, but she is now over 10 lbs! She is a year old and hopefully full grown. She has the most perfect personality, she is very loyal and affectionate. She is very smart and has a lot of energy. I recently began a search to figure out what she is mixed with and now I am pretty sure she is a Chi pin because she looks a lot like the other dogs on this page. I couldn't ask for a better dog. I definitely want another Chi Pin in the near future. : ) I think we bought her much younger than her seller said she was. (03/08/2008)

RE: Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I met Mielita in Nogales, AZ from a breeder who's my step-uncle - told me she was mostly Chihuahua with some Pug mix. She picked me actually. I didn't go there with the intention of getting a dog. However, her long legs and temperament suggested that she is more like a Min Pin than Pug mix. I'm thinking she's 1/4 Chi and 3/4 Min Pin. Any thoughts? She weighs about 10 lbs and is 17 month's old. I got her when she was only 5 months old, very tall and skinny! Very sweet and loves attention. Cautious around strangers, alert and playful around other dogs (no matter what size). Dainty but tough. Small yet makes her presence known. Very obedient and smart! Learned fetch in one day and will dance, sit, stay regardless of treats. Spend time teaching your dog obedience and be persistent and patient.

She's stubborn, but she wants to please so I don't have to repeat myself most of the time. I'm stern, but not overbearing. She listens better when I'm gentle, calm and assertive than if I'm loud - then she folds her ears back, does the "squat-walk" and goes to her bed and sulks for a bit. If I'm displeased, I deepen my tone of voice and say "no, bad dog" and she gets it.

I've trained her to sit when we get to curbs so I can check for traffic before we cross. And to sit when she's done with her business so I can clean up after her. She goes on command now as well which is perfect before car rides or if I'm running late. Living in an apartment I don't have a back yard, so I thought it important that she learn how to walk politely on a leash around other dogs, people, trains, cars, bikes etc. while on our walks around the neighborhood.

Not very vocal at all - only barks when someone knocks on the door. Used to have separation anxiety (no barking but she would chew on the door frame when left alone), I stopped allowing her to sleep under the covers with me at night and that faded right away! She does like to chew, so I get her plenty of Nylabones - stuffed toys usually get dissected. Watch them with "soft toys" as they can ingest them and then have a blockage - very costly (3-5K) and life-threatening. I alternate Nylabones on a daily basis so she has something "new" to chew on each day when I go to work and so I don't worry about ingestion. She leaves my house alone, but has a weakness for shoelaces and my clothing, so I put those away. Love to borrow, so I give her plenty of blankets on the couch which is where she sleeps now.

No accidents either - fully potty trained at 1 year. Can hold it over 10 hours but that's pushing it, so I make sure I'm home to let her out as soon as I get out of work. I'm calm and ignore her when I come home to lessen heightened excitement (leads to accidents - esp. when she's been holding it all day). I call her over quietly to put her leash on. I don't talk to her at all, nor make eye contact when I get home because that gets her even more excited. She knows our routine. Routine is VERY important to dogs. This is how good habits and bad habits are born and broken respectively.

She loves to travel - good on airplanes, trains, cars, but likes cars best of all. Not one peep! Awesome companion, smart and playful guard dog and my best little buddy! She's pictured here with her Pit bull buddy Josie - they get along great by the way! Sometimes she dominates the big one - or at least tries to..very funny when they play tug. The big one walks the little one around the house! Too cute!

Meleita looks more 3/4 chi & 1/4 minpin to me. Our puppies that were born 09/07 are 3/4 chi & 1/4 minpin, but they still have a longer nose and bigger ears than our full blooded chi. Does your precious girl have a velvet coat? Our chi-pin does, but our chi has a wirey coat. I've posted before on here along with pics, but can't remember my user name, lol. (03/13/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

This is my baby, I love her so much. I was told she was full chi but she never really looked like a full chi to me and everyone else kept on commenting about how different she looked from a full chi. I saw these pictures and now I'm pretty sure she's a chi/min pin mix, what do you think? I have another question. When I first received her as a gift I was told she was 8 wks old too, but when we went to the vet to get her shots the week after we got her the vet made a comment on how she looked to be 2-4 months old for a chi and in the pictures she's about 4 months. I'm not sure which to believe, but I'd rather believe that she was 8 weeks when I first got her. Please email me with your thoughts.

I just wanted to tell everyone that has posted pictures on this site that their dogs are just beautiful. Until now I was not sure if Little Man was a mix of Chi and Minpin but now I am. My nephew had bought him for his girlfriend and he came into our lives at 6 months old. He is now almost 2 1/2 years old and a little over 10 pounds. We have an older mix female that has been spayed and a 7 month old chi that we will have spayed soon. Little Man is a true character and loves to run and play with my other dogs but is very protective of us and our property. I am looking for a min pin-chihuahua mix. We lost ours last Friday after it was hit by a car. She was only 4 1/2 months. We were completely in love with her. She was 3/4 min pin- 1/4 chihuahua. I love my Chi-pin. We have always had big pure bred breeds and I saw my "Cheech" at a pet store where he literally grabbed me by the neck and wouldn't let go. He kept sighing and hugging me with his little paws. I took him home obviously, it's been over a year and I have to say- He's the best dog we've ever had! He loves other animals and most people. Some men he just doesn't like, but there's a lot to be said about his instinct! He plays and loves on us all the time. BEST DOG EVER! (04/19/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I never thought I'd be into small dogs since I've always had Rotts and Weims; but my boyfriend got a female Min Pin and a male Chihuahua, both around five pounds. We raised a litter, she had five females and we sold all of them along with the mom and dad. I thought I'd keep the runt for a while just to see how it would be. Well, I'm so totally in love with my little girl, I named her Minchi, and she's such a joy to me. She's a year old now and only a bit over four pounds. She's so much fun; this cross shows the cuddliness of a Chihuahua and the fiestiness of a Min Pin and she is so entertaining. I no longer consider myself just a large-dog lover; my heart has expanded a good amount and there's plenty of room for my Chipin. I now have another Min Pin and am planning on crossing her with a Chihuahua; I have so many people who have requested a pup! Here's a photo. :-) (04/20/2008)

I got in touch with Field of Dreams rescue, I am having a min pin flown in. They seem very reasonable and seem to work with you with a lot of things. They are on petfinders.com. I know that most of the dogs are spayed or neutered. But I also know they get puppies that are too young for that surgery. (04/22/2008)

This is Loghyn she is almost 6 months old, but in this picture she is about 4 1/2 months. She is very smart and knows how to sit, lie down, fetch and loves to snuggle. We are working on the leash thing though =) (04/30/2008)

Help me think of a name for my sweet baby

I just bought my chi pin 2 days ago and my family and I are already in love. She's 2 1/2 months old. She is the sweetest dog. Playful and spunky but also loves to cuddle and nuzzle. I haven't even named her yet. I'm trying to decide between Lola, Fergie and I also really like Bella. What do you all think? (05/02/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I have recently inherited a chihuahua mix from my mum. The breeder said that she thinks the dad was a Jack Russell. I have a Doberman and after having him a few weeks and watching him grow a bit, I'm not sure that he is cross Russell, but mini pin. Can someone look at my photo and give me their opinion? He is about 13 inches tall, mostly in the legs. (05/18/2008)

Have not been to this site in a while, but I'm having some issues with shedding so I figured I would venture here to see if anybody had any posts on what they were feeding there Chipin's, but came up empty. Here is an updated picture of Rocky (about 10 months old). (05/28/2008)

Loghyn looks just like my Moses. He was the love of our lives, sweet, cuddly and so loving to us, probably more than we ever deserved. He was hit and killed by a car on 6/1/08 2 days after we bought and moved into our new home. We miss him terribly. Kiss and hug the furry ones we love everyday! (06/04/2008)

This is Giselle. She's about 14 weeks now. At first I thought she was a rat terrier and a chi mix, but now looking at these pics, I'm starting to think she's a min pin and chi mix. She's really smart and playful and very energetic, which gets her in trouble sometimes. (06/10/2008)

This is a yr. old pic of my dog Charger. The guy I got him from tried to tell me he was a Min Pin mixed w/ a Shitzu. I told him he was wrong. I see Min Pin and Chihuahua. He was 2 lbs when we got him and now a yr. later is only 9lbs. He is so hyper and fun.. His sister who is from the same litter is 19lbs. The vet said she looks like a Min Pin mixed w a Black Lab. Apparently they can be in the same litter and have different dads. (06/11/2008)

This is my Jack, the love of my life. So loving, so cute, makes me laugh everyday. He's not great with kids or bigger dogs when meeting on the street, but great once he gets used to individual dogs. He's 14 months - I can't believe how much he looks like your Lamonte Damon! (06/14/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I always wondered if my pup was mixed. After looking at these photos, I am sure my Ivy is a chipin! She is adorable. She has the companionship and loving cuddle of a chihuahua but also has the feisty and fiery bark of a min pin when she wants to be aggressive! I rescued her from the shelter when she was about 4 months. I gave her a birthday of May 29 so she is just over a year now and about 10 pounds. She is the joy of my life. She has trouble with separation anxiety and cries when I leave her. Does anyone know how to help her with this? I think it was because she was abandoned when she was little. (06/21/2008)

My family & I love Canella so much. She is one of the best dogs I've ever owned. I had 2 Min-Pins before, and they don't even compare to this loving dog. She is friendly to all, and purrs like a cat when you pet her. She plays well with my 5 year old, and other kids too. I haven't gotten her fixed yet cause I'm going to breed her one time before I do. I also noticed that my Canella does have a tan nose, unlike other dogs. She is a cutie.. (06/25/2008)

This is Dobie and his big sister Sasha. I believe Dobie is Chipin (chihuahua & min pin) I was told that he was all chihuahua. I thought that his markings and paws looked like a doberman pincher which is where the name Dobie came from. He is hilarious from morning to night. He is a little bundle of energy. (06/29/2008)

This is my baby "Elvis" at 6 mos old. He is the greatest dog. So lovable and playful. I think I have found out what his breed is. He looks so much like the other dogs up here. I know his dad is 100% chihuahua and his mom is half chihuahua and another breed. Elvis looks just like her. I kinda figured he had some min pin in him. :) (06/30/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

The person we purchased Joey from told us he was a full Chihuahua, but we never saw his parents so we are a bit skeptical. He is 1 year old and about 7 lbs, so smaller than most Min Pins, but a bit bigger than most chis. Looking at the pics of Chi-Pin mixes, he certainly looks like the other dogs. We are thinking he is 1/2 Chi and 1/2 Min Pin. He has longer legs than most Chihuahuas, but the demeanor of a Chi. He loves to run and play fetch, but shakes like a Chi when he is scared. He is such a lover and demands full attention! We cannot imagine life without our silly little dog, whatever type he is! (07/06/2008)

We recently rescued a "chi pin". Her name is Hershee and she is the best dog. I have a 6 & 9 year old and she is so great with the two of them (along with the other 20 kids in our neighborhood that come in and out of our home). This is her at about 8 weeks. Just a complete sweetie! She is now at 12 weeks a little bit longer in the legs--maybe has more min pin in her--we will see. We just love her! (07/08/2008)

I got my mini pin/chihuahua from a breeder in Chilliwack, British Columbia. Harley's mom is a chihuahua and his dad the min pin. This picture was taken when he was 2 months old. He is now 1! Juan is a 4.5 pound, 15 month old chipin. I was told he was all chi, but apparently he's not. I found this out last week when I adopted El Rojo Diablo, a 2 year old chipin and he weighs about 6 to 6.5 pounds. He looks just like Juan, only a different color! They also look like the other dogs on this page. I'm not sure how this happened, but Juan is the WORST dog I've ever had! He barks and growls all night, howls so loud you can hear him a 1/2 mile away when you leave the house, and hates other women, other dogs, and all kids! Diablo couldn't hurt a fly and they look alike, but are as different as night and day. I love them both, pics of Diablo coming soon. (07/15/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I have a dog name Koa, he's just over a year old. When my boyfriend and I bought him, he was 2 months old and was the cutest little thing! Well, the whole time I've had him, I've always questioned myself about his breed. He never came off as a fox terrier to me so I decided to start looking through websites for a Chi/Fox Terrier mix and could not find one that resembled Koa.

We've always thought the closest thing to him was a Min Pin and so I searched Chi/Min Pin and found this website. He has the markings and colorings so similar to a lot of the dogs on this site. The only white he has on him now are on his throat/chest. I thought fox terriers were majority white? What do you guys think? Here's a picture of him at 4 months.

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I've been wondering what other breed my Chihuahua mix is. Some people say Dachshund chihuahua. I was looking at a Mini Pin site and noticed Rags
looked like a mini Pin-except for the ears. This site only reinforces that belief. Rags is a sweet dog. Loyal, Playful. Likes to bury under the covers, chase squirrels. His only drawback-he's got one nasty bark. It's loud. (08/02/2008)

My mom really wants a miniature pincher/ Chihuahua mix. I'm trying to persuade her to get a Chihuahua, but she's saying that their personality is different. Is that so? Are any of you familiar with both regular Chihuahuas and a min pin/chihuahua mix? I heard that min pin/ chi are very excited and have lots of energy. Is that true? Are Chihuahuas like that as well? I heard that they bark a lot and all of the time, is that so? Please email me if you can help me with any of my questions. alita.bobrov AT gmail.com. Thanks in advance. (08/04/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I love my chi/pin! He's so much fun, but he is stubborn. Sometimes he uses his puppy pad and sometimes he doesn't. He's housebroken for the most part, but I'd like him to be completely housebroken. He's a little less than 6 months old now. In the picture he's about 2 months. (08/04/2008)

RE: Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

Hello All! I have 3 Chis and one Chipin just got her a week ago :) Something about this breed, is it does take some time to potty train. And sometimes she will use the pee pads and sometimes not!:( My 3 chi's all from different bloodlines, all of them got it down the first day. Also Matilda loves to chew, chew, chew on anything. She has raw hides and all and the only way I can get her to just chew them, is to put her in her play pen.

So to those that do not have the time to spend chasing a little hyper chewing machine around, I would suggest a full blooded Chihuahua. Me on the other hand, I love my baby girl! I can just tell that a lot of the Min Pin traits come out in her more than the Chihuahuas. She is tiny, tiny and looks like a little Doberman. She gets along great with the other babies, I just have to keep all cords up because she has already chewed my head set cord (which I don't mind), but at her small size she is sneaky, and it is hard to catch everything she chews on.

This is Daisy. She is 3 1/2 months old now and in these pictures she is 2 months old. She's pretty much the same size now as she was then. I was told she was a Chipin when I bought her. She looks like all these other beautiful dogs, so I know for sure now that she is Chipin. She loves to play around with our other Chihuahua who is about 10 pounds and she's a ball of energy, very stubborn, and talks back, but I love her. (08/06/2008)

RE: Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

Tito my little buddy adopted me, I think. I am in the auto salvage business and went to look at an auto for salvage when we met. He would not leave me alone. But was not over bearing. He was just curiously friendly. We bonded almost immediately. I mentioned to the woman that he was a really neat dog and she responded that he was available since her daughter was renting an apartment with a "no pet" clause.

When I got home I told my wife about him. So she made surprise arrangements to try him out for a day or two. We all fell in love with him so $50 later he was ours. He was about 5 months old when we got him, and he is about 3 years old now. He is definitely the best $50 I have ever spent. He was really easy to house break, and he acts as though he understands English. LOL He is very energetic and loving. He gets along with most other cats and dogs very well. Actually the people we got him from had a couple of pit bulls and Tito was so cute standing between the front legs of them, looking up as if saying "hey mess with me and my homeys will take care of my light work".

We're told he was a purebred chihuahua but they never got any paperwork with him. Well we already had two purebred chihuahuas at home and it didn't take long to figure out he was not one, since he took charge, even as a puppy, with one chihuahua 7 yrs old and another 3 yrs old. His personality just did not match up to a chihuahua. Plus we have had two other chihuahuas, from different breeders previously.

The more we looked into it, the more we were sure he was either a min pin or a chi pin. The picture furnished is the only one I have handy at this time and that was when he was about 6 months old. He is now a lot more stocky looking, and is about 10 lbs and around 11 inches tall at the back. His snout is now more short like a chihuahua instead of being long and slim like a min pin. If by chance I get a chance to load a more recent pic I will do so.

I am about 90% sure he is a chipin but regardless of his breeding he is loved by all that meet him and definitely the best $50 I have ever spent. We have since gotten rid of our purebred chihuahuas since we could not look after 3 house dogs.

I am glad I came across this site and from what I can see from other testimonials, if you're looking for a house dog that doesn't bark at every little noise and is gentle and very loving but yet rugged, fearless and frisky at a moments notice, then you can't go wrong with this mixed breed.

All of the babies on this site are beautiful. Too bad we can't have a big Chipin Party! I think my little guy is a mini pin/chi mix. His name is Brownie, and he is 2. He was a stray that wandered into my yard. He likes to burrow under the covers, and knows how to tuck himself in. Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

Everything started as a Christmas gift. My husband bought me what was suppose to be a Chihuahua (my favorite dog breed until now), I named him Mickey. Turns out that he looks like a Chipin too. We suspected that he was not 100% Chihuahua, since he didn't resemble other Chihuahuas. After seeing these pictures and reading about the Chipin's behavior, we are now convinced Mickey is a Chipin. Mickey is definitely the sweetest and more intelligent dog that we ever had. He is loving, caring, obedient and the very definition of a fast learner. I will definitely recommend a Chipin to anyone. He's super sleepy and sleeps every chance he gets and likes to stay in the warmest area possible, but he every once in a while will pick up the ball himself and start to play - once he gets going he is really energetic and loves meeting new dogs and LOVES cats and children. We are thinking about naming him Levi, but are looking at a lot of names now. He was the runt, so he is tiny, but really active. I love to watch him run and play. Glad to have him in our family. Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I am so in love with my Minpin-Chihuahua mix I can't believe it. He is my first dog and I feel like I got lucky! He is a rescue dog. I got him at 5 months and has been such a gift. I do admit the house training was difficult, but I was determined! He gets along amazingly well with my cat, but doesn't do well with small children and is fearful of men (he was a rescue and came with a broken tail and hernia).

My biggest issue with Max is other dogs. I have brought him to training, but still struggle when I walk him (I have a fifty-fifty chance that he will respond to redirection or ignore other dogs). He gets aggressive with other dogs when on-leash. I have no comparison but think Max is the coolest dog ever. He is loving and sweet and always by my side. I have seriously considered getting another, but think he is happy the way things are.

This is Rocket, he loves everyone. I don't think he has a mean bone in his body, he is very needy so he always has to be in your lap or following you around. He was given to us by someone who had a cat and did not want both (what a mistake), he has been the best dog ever. (10/13/2008)

All of your posts are making me so excited to meet my new minchi. I'm getting some ideas for names too through this site. My boyfriend is gifting him to me for a present and I couldn't be happier. Will post pictures soon! (10/19/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

Today is Tuesday Oct. 21st. I have had my 3 month old puppy for one week now. My boyfriend and I rescued him from the Fremont, CA shelter. The vet there believes he is chi-min pin mix. Yet, another vet said he was unsure whether or not he was mixed with mini pinscher or corgi. After seeing this webpage I am almost 100% positive our baby raider is chipin mix. He's the cutest little lovable puppy I have ever met. We are so lucky to have had the chance to adopt him. Thank you to everyone that posted pictures and info on this mix breed! (10/21/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

Here is my baby dog Mack (Mackers). The vet told me he was a chihuahua but I knew he was too big to be purebred chi. He is about 10-12 lbs. He is so loving. He'll sit in your lap and then just throw himself against you to give you a hug. It is so adorable. I love him! And after looking at these pictures, I'm convinced he's a Chipin. (11/09/2008)

Can Anyone tell me if Cody is a Chipin? He is so much bigger than my female purebred chi and has markings just like a min pin. When he was a puppy I had people saying what a cute min pin he was. The vet says he is a Chi but he's so much bigger than any other Chi I've seen. His walk is more or a prance, like he is actually in a dog show. Thanks. (11/10/2008)

Yaco (pronounced Jacko) is a chipin who lives in Costa Rica. His father was a pure miniature pincher and his mother was a 50/50 chipin. Yaco is nine years old. He likes going for rides, taking walks, napping, and laying in his favorite red recliner. (11/10/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I own a male min pin and he is very territorial. He doesn't really like anybody but family, but is really good with other dogs. He is so comical and will make you laugh no matter what. And he has been really tough to potty train (which I hear now that the males are).

My husband's step-mother has had 2 chihuahuas since I have known him and both were males also and they were really sweet. All the chihuahuas I know are. One of them she had a tough time potty training too. But other than that, good luck. Hope I helped a little (11/12/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

This is Muffin, my 10 month old chipin. She is a great dog: loves to play rough with my three young boys, but then is also very cuddly and affectionate. She loves people and other dogs, & she can even swim. Like many of the other pups here, she too likes to sleep in my bed under the covers. My only recommendation to those of you with this breed is to be very careful having your dog off the leash. They are FAST runners, so it's easy for them to squeeze under fences and get lost. My dog is indoor pad trained. I had a lot of success using the crate and then keeping her contained to a single room for several months. The more freedom she had, the more accidents. Now that she's older, she has the entire downstairs, and is only prone to accidents if we have a lot of loud guests. (11/13/2008)

First, let me thank Felo for his post of Yaco, it was very helpful to me. My dog PJ was a rescue 2 years ago, so I was never sure of her breed or age. She looks very similar to Yaco, right down to the white face. I'm now pretty sure she is a Chipin, and maybe not as old as we had originally thought.
PJ lives in Mass. and she too likes going for rides, taking walks, napping, and laying on her favorite gray sofa, under the covers of course. (11/21/2008)

Re: the California Chipins

I would like to add a little more info about these two little girls. They both have the most delightful personalities. After reading up on min pins and chi. I can see so much in each breed. They both like to burrow in the covers and really have not been too bad with pottying.

And yes, they are escape artists which is probably why they are with me instead of their owners! I have to agree that they are a very smart dog. They are very affectionate and have adapted well to our household in the short time we have had them (1 week last Thursday). I would love to keep them if I were in the market for a dog but I already have four dogs of my own. I hope someone can offer them a loving home soon.

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I adopted a dog that has papers, and lots of them, as I am her 6th and last home, she is a keeper! Some of her papers have the name Tansy on them. Another has chi Chi and still another one has Cocoa. I have been told that she formerly was a 20 pound dog. She has Chihuahua ears & curled long tail. When I first saw her I thought she she was a strange miniature pincher.

For 5 months she has exercise and good lamb-rice dry food & fat supplement. Her fur & color have changed from dull dry white/blond color to an almost blondie-red silky fur. I am told that proper diet and exercise is why her coloring and dry coat has changed. I think from searching the web she might have been born in 2003 and slowly made her way from the Texas area to Northern New Jersey.

She is like a frisky puppy now that she has adjusted to us and her new food, exercise schedule with huge doses of LOVE. She looks like all the Chipins at this website. Does anyone have any information about her past? For her health & well being it would help us to further nurture & care for her. Anyone with information please post. Thank you.

I have two chi pins (Errol Flynn and Perry Como) and would never have anyhting else. They are both fairly calm and easily trained. One loves to burrow under covers and things (like min pins). They are very gentle and good with children. One never barks and the other a little bit (more of a growler). I like them becuase they are not shiverery like chi's. They do shed a bit but mine or both good with being groomed. One of mine is REALLY fast and can beat any dog in the dog park. They are not too possesive. I think it is the perfect mix and mixes are known for not having as many health problems. Mine do not have any allergies. (12/05/2008)

Back on Oct. 21st I posted a picture of raider at 3 months. I had thought he was for sure a chipin. Yet now that he has grown and is 5 1/2 months we are playing the guess what breed game. We spoke with a professional groomer that thinks he might be part shiba inu. his coat is really thick and his tail does that curvy up thing. Has anyone ever came across any shiba inu mini pinscher mix? Or shiba inu chihuahua mix? Has anyone's vet ever thought that their dog might be shiba iun when you thought it was chipin? I have had no luck finding shiba inu mix breeds online. Please reply on this site if you have any information for me! Thanks.

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

This is Molly. She showed up at my house sometime in April 2008. She was abandon by some people that lived near me. At first, she would come around and I would feed her. I knew she had recently had pups because of her tits, and then once the pups were no longer sucking, she would carry food back to them in her mouth. This went on for a few months, then she decided to hang around all the time, and now she has me wrapped around her paw. I had her spayed and all shots, etc. She is very sweet and lies on my lap all the time. I have to share my bed with her (she snuggles of course), but she barks, jerks and kicks in her sleep. It's very cute. (12/24/2008)

I love all the pics and stories about your chipins! I have had Spike for over a year now, he was a rescue from our local animal shelter. I was told he was chihuahua mix and always wondered what the mix was. My kids have a minpin and their bodies seemed so similar, I am thinking after visiting here, that is what my baby is mixed with.

No toy is safe from his destruction. He loves to sleep under the blankets with us, and he loves our family, but is very slow to warm up to strangers. My other dogs are black labs and I never thought I would be a little dog person, but dang it if this guy didn't convert me!

I think I might have the same pup as all of you. We are not sure how old she is because my mom's friend found her in a ditch and gave her to us about 3 months ago. Her name is Sadie Mae and we believe she is between 5 and 6 months old. She does have a temper at times and howls at the door when she hears/sees something. She does get jealous when she's up in my lap and my 2 year old sister climbs up there, but hey she loves attention. This is her pic from about 3-4 weeks ago. (12/29/2008)

We rescued our little girl (Stormy) from a local shelter about 4 months ago. She was there with her sister, but unfortunately we could only take one of them (her sister was adopted too though, so no worries). We were told they are chihuahua/terrier mix. We have always suspected she was some sort of a minpin mix though because she looks more like a minpin than a chi. All of my friends even commented that they would have guessed she was a minpin, not a chi. Also, Stormy's sister has a brindle coat, which I have never seen in a chi or a minpin though. What do ya'll think? (12/29/2008)

Miniature Pincher / Chihuahua Mix

I just got Kayleigh on Thanksgiving, I was told she was a Chipin. We're not sure of her age- 6 months maybe, I am still waiting for my friend to find her paperwork before she leaves for Iraq. Kayleigh just lost a tooth & started her period this week. The vet weighed her at 3lb-11oz & she is all legs w/ docked tail & floppy ears, she has dry patches on the ends of her ears, the vet said he'd scrape/micro scope it at our next visit, if it doesn't improve with a proper diet.

She is super sweet & only after a day of barking, she finally gets along with our 40lb cattle dog, but does not like other animals including caged birds. I think this is a great little dog & is very much loved! We're getting her spayed & micro chipped next month. We're looking at adding on an addition to our house to fit all of her clothes. JK... I have been lucky to find some really cute inexpensive clothes. Walmart seems to have the best clothes. Why do people dock their tails? (12/30/2008)

This is Lucy. We went to a picnic at a friends house and there she was. They already had a chihuahua and said Lucy was too hyper. An older woman had Lucy first and couldn't handle all the attention that she requires. It was love at first sight. Even though I was her third owner, she has adapted well. Probably because I spoil her rotten! I was told she was a chihuahua/dashund mix but I came to the conclusion that she is a chipin. She has the longest legs! Anyway, she loves to sleep under the blankets. Since we have no children, she has become my baby. I dress her up like a little doll. (12/30/2008)

We got these from a friend who wasn't able to give them the attention they need. The one on the left (Babe) has more pincher in her, definitely the on-guard and more loyal one. The one on the right (Lily) is the playful chihuahua type, not a care in the world and definitely not interested in being on-guard! The one on the left can be too dominating to her sister and we're training her to know her place in the family. If we let her run the coop, she will. Overall, they are VERY smart and so much fun! We can spend hours playing and laughing at him. They are quite a comical dog with the energy to keep going. When ever you have an off day, sad or mad - one look or kiss from Pico and the day turns around.
Good Luck! Kenny W. Edmonton, (01/11/2009)

This is my beautiful Chipin Baby. She is almost 2 years old. Her birthday is at the end of the month. Baby is so sweet and good natured. She loves to burrow and play with soft, squeaky toys. Her bed is full of her favorite toys actually. I would say there are about 8-12 toys in there now. Baby is also extremely smart, I am amazed at how fast she learns and adapts to life around her. If I could find another dog like her, I would definitely do it! (01/13/2009)

My girl "Maddy", she is a veteran of this website. She is all grown up now. She only barks if somebody enters my room at night. Good with the kids. Very loyal to where it's almost annoying. (01/21/2009)

This is my 3 year old minpin chihuahua dog. It is a she. I got her as the runt of her litter. She barks everytime someone knocks at the door. She is loving to my kids and anyone who walks in. She loves to cuddle. Her name is Snuggles, because she has loved to cuddle since she was a puppy.

Her weight is only 4 pounds. She has always been a good dog and loves to travel in the car. She growls when she does not aprove of someone, so we trust her by that. She has only done that to 4 people in her 3 yeas of life, so she is a great judge of character. Hope it helps who ever it can. (01/22/2009)

Mia Maria

Here's my little girl Mia. She's the best, most sweetest dog ever. She's the biggest of her litter (8lbs) and actually has more of the min pin characteristics than her siblings. I love her. She loves to jump in the bed and crawl under the covers in the middle of night and snuggle. She's the best! (01/22/2009)

I was told my girl Nora was a Chihuahua, but everyone asks if she is a min pin mix. Anyone have any ideas? At the vet yesterday she was 7.6 pounds and is only 5 1/2 months old. (01/27/2009)

This is a picture of our Chippin's "Frieda & Gertie". We know for sure they are pure-breds before the mix, and we loved Frieda (on the right) so much, that we begged for another from a later litter, and got Gertie. Unfortunately their daddy passed away at a ripe old age, so no more of this exact mix. They are lovable, cuddly, best friends. These dogs are wonderful companions, and ours easily trained to use a "potty pad". This allows us to leave for the day without coming home to a mess, or having someone let them out. They sure do miss us when we are gone, and we return to lots of love and affection. (01/28/2009)

This little pupita is Marisol. We have had her since November of 2007. We rescued her from a local shelter. She is approximately 3 or so years old (although we can't be quite sure). She loves to play with feet and she holds her own.

The one thing she will not tolerate are male visitors. It took quite some time to get her acquainted with all the male family members. She gets along quite well with the Yorkshire Terrier that lives next door. The two are best friends and like to chase each other around the yards.

We have caught her eating quite a few strange things. She hoards Q-tips and decapitates them. She also eats: paper, toothpaste, carrots, green beans, and will beg for anything from the table (but we don't usually give her anything, we don't want our baby getting fat). She thinks that my bed is hers, and does not like to share it. She has quite a few outfits, and many, many toys. She enjoys anything that makes strange noises or moves. Enjoy her picture!

Our Mia just had a birthday. She turned 1 on Jan 28. We got her for our 13 year old daughter because our Dachshund is so laid back, and our daughter wanted a companion to play with. Mia's middle name should be "Trouble" she gets into and tears up everything. We got her a t-shirt that says "Good thing I'm cute!" (01/31/2009)
