My Cat Is Losing Her Hair?

My Cat Is Losing Her Hair - calico catShe was born with one eye and a deformed mouth. She only has four teeth so she doesn't eat dry food only the tinned mackerel. My cat is losing the hair around her neck. My wife gave my cat a birth control pill in her water and now she is losing hair around her neck. What can be done?

She might have mites. I would consult the vet.

This sounds like a visit to the vet is necessary.

Tinned mackerel is very high in oil. Have you ever tried to soften dry cat food with some water? This would be better for your cat to eat than mackerel. Many pet owners in Tahiti feed their animals tinned mackerel mixed with bread. The dogs and cats who eat this over a long period of time start losing their hair.

If your cat is allergic to the birth control pills it is better to take her and have her fixed. I would recommend seeing your vet for fixing your cat and discussing her diet.

It seems you really care about this kitty so schedule an appointment with the vet and find out what the real problems are. Be very sure to tell the vet - up front - everything that has been happening or the vet may not be able to give a good diagnosis.
Dogs may need the oil from mackerel tins but cats do not need all that oil and it can be bad for their health.

Try buying pate cat food as this is soft and can be spread about the plate so she can eat without having to chew.

I had to do this when one of my cats had a tooth problem. I also took premium (fish/salmon as first ingredient) dry cat food and added a little water and a drop or two of either olive oil or coconut oil and mashed it up so she could eat it.
You have a very disadvantaged kitty that needs some special care so since you chose to take care of her, please take her to the vet so she can live a long and healthy life.
