My Cat Pees Everywhere

Our cat has a tendency to pee on our furniture, blankets, and even clothes we leave on the ground. She gets bullied by our other 3 cats, we try to control that. Funny thing is she will go and poop in the litter box, but sometimes she'll pee in it. We think the reason she's doing this is because she feels threatened. We were thinking about giving her away, finding a better home for her, but that would just break out hearts. Does anybody know any methods we could use to make her stop. She is fixed and so are the other 3.

Another thing, she doesn't do it secretively. The other day my dad was sitting on his recliner, watching TV and she went up on the couch and started peeing on it!

Advice would be nice.

Thanks,

I have two indoor cats and so far have never had these problems. When I got my second cat I made sure that she didn't access the scratch tray of my first cat. The older cat won't use the trays if the young one has used any of them so I am very careful about cleaning the trays. Sometimes up to to three time and four times a day - I also have four trays for the two kitties and they're not all in the same place. Even so I sometimes shut my older cat in a room with a clean tray just to make sure he eliminates without interruption. (07/14/2008)

Could be a urinary tract infection. Please take her to the vet. (07/14/2008)

This might sound totally stupid, as I've never had cats pee on furniture right in front of me, but maybe she's seeking some attention from the people in the house? Especially since you mentioned she might feel threatened by the other cats. Maybe she just needs some extra attention and affection from the humans so she feels secure that way. Although she's a cat, I can't imagine a behavior (in humans anyway) that screams out "notice me and love me anyway!" as much peeing on the furniture does. Best of luck, I hope some of these suggestions will work. (07/15/2008)

I have 2 cats that I got when they were both kittens, one of them had gotten crystals in his urinary tract so I have had him on the prescription cat food for about 3 years now. He still does not go in the litter box. I have tried everything. Nature's miracle to take the smell out, and putting aluminum foil over so that it can dry. I have cleaned so much and kept the box super clean.

I bought those automatic cleaners but it scared him so I had to just do it manually every day. He still will not pee in the litter box, he does good for about a week after I overhaul the room and deep clean the carpets and sterilize it but then he goes right back to this. I don't know what to do. Is there some way to re-train him? Please help.

My cat pees in several spots throughout the house too. She is 2 years old and has been doing this for over a year now. I always clean it up right away but she does it over and over again. I don't have a litter box, she is an indoor/outdoor cat. She has had over $1,000 in vet tests and everything comes back clean. I use the pheromone spray, strong smells where she pees, nothing works. My Cat Pees Everywhere

I have 9 cats. Last year adopted a Siamese from my vet who was problematic. The vet ruled out physical problems but the owner decided to put her down, I decided to try her..

She lived in the basement for 4 months and gradually became used to me and the other cats. There are 6 litter pans in my cellar and 5 of my cats go in and out (I live in a very rural area). Summer was not bad, but since the colder weather she has peed everywhere -my bed, spare bed, kitchen chairs, area rugs...I placed a litter pan in the kitchen and she peed all over the chairs anyway. The other cats generally get along with her, and there is 1 of my cats that she likes to bully.

This peeing is making me crazy, I am living like a hostage in my own house, closing doors, scrubbing everything. This AM was particularly bad and I threw her down stairs after showing her the mess. I do not like to be angry or rash, but this one is making my life stressful, and help would be appreciated. Would make her an outside cat but live in PA and we are headed into winter. (12/02/2008)
