Nana's Hot Wings

hot wings in bowlThis is a shortcut to the best hot wings you've ever eaten! Our local Winn-Dixie has a wing bar special several days a week. I use the wing piece not the small drumstick, but if you have adequate time to spend even those are good. What you do is select the plain wings on special price day and bring them home to recook into Nana's hot wings!

Yield: 24 wings pieces

Ingredients:

Steps:

  1. Melt butter in a medium size nonstick sauce pan. Make sure its large enough to be able to turn the wings. You are going to do that a lot.
  2. Add Louisiana's Pure Crystal hot sauce. Stir until creamy (just a few minutes will do).
  3. Add the wings. Stir them in the sauce and turn the wings. If you like garlic, now is the time to add it (I use the pre-chopped).
  4. Turn the burner on medium and cover the pan. Every 5 min. Mix the wings up bringing the bottom ones to the top. Continue to sprinkle the hot sauce on any dry areas. You are caramelizing the wings.
  5. After 20 min. turn the burner down to low and turn the wings every 10 min. until the meat is falling off the bone. It usually takes just under an hour.

Can be done in crockpot as well but the cooking time is 2-3 hours and you must cover the bottom of the crockpot with 1-2" of chicken broth along with the above ingredients. Wings done this in the crockpot are wet, but still awesome. You only turn the wings 2 times to coat during the cooking time.

Making my tummy grumble. Seems so easy, too. Thank you :)
