Volunteer At Your Local Theatre
If you love the theater, consider volunteering for your local theater as an usher. You will not only get to see some great theater for free, you will be helping the arts in your community.

Call the Paper For Special Offers
When it comes time to renew a subscription, call them and it's likely you'll save big! I noticed last week that it would have been more expensive to auto-pay my Sunday paper (coupon central) than to send in a check every 3 months.

Ordering Books from the Library
Most people know that you can go to your local library to order a book from another Library. What most people do NOT know is that the process is a lot quicker, and more fool-proof, if you give the Librarian the ISBN for the book.

Using the Library
If your local library has interlibrary loans, you can request practically any book, CD, tape or magazine, since many libraries are involved. One of my favorite things to do is check the advertisements in magazines for new books (my favorites are Home and Garden and Spiritual) and request them through Interlibrary Loan. Also, there are several free publishers' lists that are filled with new and interesting selections.

Take Advantage Of Birthday Perks
Check and see which restaurants offer the birthday person a FREE desert or a discount coupon on a meal. They usually will sing Happy Birthday too! Check it out; some have birthday registration clubs. Usually it has to be in the month, not the exact birth date. Worth checking out. By Syd

Winter Sand Box
To extend the fun of summer put some sand into a small rubbermaid storage bucket with some shells and play toys then let your kids play in the bucket on a large piece of vinyl or a shower curtain when it's snowed outside. They'll think you're pretty cool. Although it can get messy this is pretty cheap Occupational Therapy if a child needs it. By Melanie
