| Painting Tip: Freeze Brush For Tomorrow
If you have to stop in the middle of painting before the job is done, you don't have to wash the brush. Just stick the bristles into a sandwich bag, no need to seal, and pop it into the freezer until ready to paint again.

| Refinishing Mahogany Furniture
Can someone tell me how to refinish a large mahogany dining room table? The varnish is very badly marked. It has huge cloudy sections caused by warm food bowls, plates, and occasionally spilled liquids.

| Painting Heating Radiators
Painting old radiators can be tough. Try using an inexpensive, small window squeegee: the type that has a small rubber strip on one side and a sponge strip on the other. The sponge side on these squeegees holds paint pretty well and can slip into the smallest spaces.

| Discounted Paint at Lowes
Whenever I visit my local Lowes home improvement store, I check out the discounted paint rack. These are 1 gallon and 5 gallon pails of tinted paint that someone did not purchase. I pay $4 for 5 gallon pails and $1 for 1 gallon. I recently bought a 5 gal pail of sandstone textured paint for $4! With the average price of these pails at $20 and up, it's a great bargain! It also helps when you're not sure what color to paint a room. Your choices are limited and the price is so great, the choice is made for you! I would say that any store that sells paint probably does the same as Lowes.

| Circular Saws - Make them all they can be.
By Gene Miller
Circular saws have become more than a tool that you will just find at a construction site. From the early days of work on construction sites cutting only wood circular saws now are found in almost every home of a do-it-yourselfer and can cut not only wood but with the purchase of some specialty blades can now cut wood, masonry, metal and plastic.

| Save Money On Home Improvement Projects
By SavingSecrets.com
Many of us avoid home improvement projects due to their expense.
Granted if you are contemplating a "second-story" addition to your
home, or the construction of a new "game-room", then most likely
you will need to hire a general contractor to complete this task.
However, if you are interested in projects like painting a room,
removing acoustic texture from the ceiling (I just did this),
installing laminate flooring, wallpaper, landscaping, etc. then
you may be able to accomplish the task(s) all on your own, or with
minimal assistance.

| Painting Tip: Use a Skateboard
Borrow your kid's skateboard when you are painting baseboards and lower walls. Just sit cross-legged on a skateboard and roll along with your paintbrush and a paint can. It's much easier on your back.

| Salvaging Paint Brushes
It's always good to clean your paint brushes after each use but if you forget and the paint dries on the brush you still may be able to salvage the brush. Just soak the brush over night in cleaning solvent for the type of paint you used. If you used water soluble paint, soak the brush in water. If you used oil paint, soak the brush in turpentine. The paint can should tell you what solvent should be used.
