Organizing Stuffed Animals

I am 17 years old and I need organizing tips for my room, I recently rearranged it but have no idea where to put everything. My biggest thing is where do I put all my stuffed animals? I have about 101+ stuffed animals and I don't want to get rid of them either.

If you, or someone you know can do it; I once saw a bedroom, where they had put a single shelf up about 18 inches or so below the ceiling (you would use your own measurement--depending on how high your ceiling is and how tall your animals are). It was simply a 1 x 12 board, painted to match the woodwork in the room; and hung with the pretty brackets you can buy at the home centers. (They're often used as accents on Victorian-style porches.) They look like 1/4th of a wagon wheel; there are also "gingerbread" ones.

It is not difficult to do; use a level to make a line across the wall where the shelf will be. Mount the brackets on the wall, preferably on a wall stud. Then put the shelf on the brackets, and screw it into place from above (they won't show).

The animals are lined up on this shelf--out of the way, but visible. I am thinking about using it with my own daughter's room. (06/25/2006)

I bought a "chain" that had clip on hooks. You hang it from a hook on the ceiling, like in a corner, or I clipped it around their closet rung. You can also hang hats and other things. Some animals don't have loops or ribbons, so you may need to shelve those (we use a box.) We bought it in the kid's closet section, but you may find it in the toy section too. Much more practical than the "Pet Net" hammock I used to have! (06/25/2006)

When I was younger I took a large net (not a stuffed animal net as they are really too small) and hung it in the corner of my room. On each side I put a plastic chain with the hooks on it hanging down the walls. I would rotate the stuffed animals from the net to the chains every so often. The ones in the net you can't always see so by rotating I could change the ones in my sight but of course keep my favorite ones close. (06/26/2006)

Well it sounds like it's too many animals to keep on your bed. I'm assuming you want to display them. I like the idea of the shelf around the room, close to the ceiling, or even just across one wall. Our kids love stuffed animals, especially our daughter and seems to like them more than dolls even. By the way, my husband and I used to live in Florence. We loved it there and wish we didn't have to move. We lived in the Oakbrook Sub-Div off of Ky 18! (06/26/2006)

Have you ever thought of trying a couple of stuffed animal hammocks ? They are at the baby store or department. Did this for my Grandson when he was small.

Two ideas:

My daughter divided her stuffed animals and rotates them by month. For instance, all the ones she got as a birthday gift come out in June, for Christmas in December, and so on. That way each one gets "equal time".

The idea a friend of mine had years ago was to put velcro on the wall and the animal and stick them up. They could be taken down easily and clean up was fun. (06/26/2006)

Hi, I am in Prospect, KY-near Louisville and also on the Ohio River. I('ll be passing through Florence on Friday as we make our way to Detriot for the Holiday weekend

We installed a hook in the ceiling and then added a length of thin chains. We purchased "clothespins with S hooks on the end of them. Clamp the pin to the animal and thread ther S hook into the chain. We hang MILLIONS of animals this way. It is in a corner and serves as a decorative item too You can also install a pet net using ceiling hooks and netting (06/27/2006)

Be careful with the hammock. Once one collapsed on my daughter while she was asleep. About 70 stuffed toys fell on her and almost gave her a heart attack, lol!(06/27/2006)

I used cup hooks to hang all of my daughter's angel bears around the edge of the room. Leave about 3-6 inches between wall and then screw the hook into the ceiling. This way they are out in the open, but not in the way. (06/27/2006)

Try putting up a wooden pole from floor to ceiling, now up and down the pole insert 3-4 inch wooden dowels, from top to about a foot from the bottom. Now just put ribbons around your stuffed animal necks and hang them. Really looks quite cute when their all hanging up and down the pole, I made 2 of these in my daughter's room, sounds like you may need at least 2, Just make sure you use a sturdy 3" pole, and make sure it fit nice and snug from floor to ceiling. enjoy! I am having the same problem with my stuffed animals. My husband is a pro at those claw machines, so I have a ton of them. Right now they're on a bed in our extra bedroom but I just found out that I'm pregnant so I need to organize them somewhere out of the way for when we have the baby. I like all of your ideas, but we live in a trailor and our walls aren't very supportive. Does anybody have any ideas that wouldn't require supportive walls? It should also be baby friendly. Thanks!

Take a large cardboard tube (like ones inside rolls of flooring materials, etc), stand it up and make sure it will be stable.

Then screw in cup hooks to hang your stuffed animals from the sides of the tube. You could even paint the tube or decorate it if you wanted to. (05/26/2007)

Just get a cardboard box and put your least favorite in there or give them to special friends. (12/06/2007)

They have nets that hang from the corner of walls and you can put a few stuffed animals on them you may be able to get 4 to cover all 4 corners. that should be enough. If you search on the internet for stuffed animal nets they have a bunch of different kinds. (09/10/2008)

I had this great idea for my room, put those pet chains around all the walls, up near the ceiling. This way you can hang all your animals (usually by the ear) and have them displayed around your room. This way you'll have all your little friends up there, and if that's not enough for all your pets, you can rotate them from boxes to the chains around your room. Plus, they have colorful chains and clips to hold your animals. (12/27/2008)
