Organizing a Shared Family Computer

May 23, 2008

A family using a laptop computer on a couch. My kids have lots of games on the computer, but my youngest has tendency to forget where the games are located, and which game is which. So, I came up with an easy solution. I made a folder on my desktop with a picture he would recognize right away, inside the folder I put in all his games and made picture icons for them with clips from the game itself. So, now he can get on the computer and load his own games because he now knows that the fish is for his fishing game, the truck for his construction game, etc.

Do make sure you limit the time children spend on computers and that they spend much more time playing with construction 3-D items, trucks, etc. Computer games are addictive and if you let them stay on too long (especially young children) they will become addicted to it.
