I need car organizing tips.
This is a guide about organizing your car's trunk. It's important to carry emergency supplies in your car. However, if you have too much it can get disorganized and even reduce your gas mileage.
I have been able to keep my car cleaned up, by hanging a plastic grocery bag on the back of the front passenger seat with a velcro cord holder. I put the holder around the metal head rest post and attach the grocery bag.
I was tired of not having a good place to store toys/books in the van, so I took an empty cat litter box, covered the words with contact paper, and attached a divided bucket to the lid with duct tape.
How do you go about organizing your car?
Organizing Your Glove Compartment
There are so many things that we need to keep handy in our car glove compartments, and it doesn't take long for it to become so packed with stuff that we can't find anything! I have been able to keep mine organized for years now very easily.
I have a full size van and on occasion when hauling groceries if I don't tie the bags closed the contents end up rolling up into the van on a quick stop or falling out when I open the door after driving up a hill.
Attach Velcro to Prevent Laundry Basket from Slipping in Car
I am a teacher and am always transporting stuff back and forth to school and my car can get cluttered very easily. My pet peeve is to hear things sliding around in the back of my SUV.
Hair Clips Hold Sunglasses on Visor
I have long hair that sometimes gets in my way so I usually keep a hair clip hooked to my car's visor in case I need it. I recently found it is the perfect way to hold my sunglasses to the visor! I've also started using a hair clip to hold my car's registration and insurance info to the inside-top of the passenger-side visor.
Carry a Laundry Basket in Your Car
I keep a spare plastic laundry basket in the trunk of my car. It's great for toting home breakables (eggs, fruit or other groceries) or yard sale finds.
Secure your load in the back of your truck with a scroll truck net. A net allows the air to flow through while holding items in place.
What do you keep your Kleenex tissues in while you are in your car? Every time I buy a kleenex box for my car it always get smashed up.
I drive a lot for my job, but only get paid for mileage if I am filling in for another worker. I don't get paid to travel to my regular clients homes. I was wondering if anyone knows of any free downloadable programs I can use to track my mileage for tax purposes?
Keep a Laundry Basket in Your Trunk
In my car trunk I leave a square laundry basket. When I grocery shop I toss all the bags into it, when I get home I lift out the basket by the handles and take in the groceries in one trip. Also the basket comes in handy when I buy a lot of flowers to plant, I transport them home in it, no dumped soil mess!
Keep linen tote bags in your car. They can fold up nicely and can be stashed in a console or under a seat. Instead of having arm loads of things to carry in and making several trips to the car to clear it out.
I keep a calendar in my car. I jot down due dates for library books, videos, doctor appointments, etc. I check it before I pull out of the driveway each morning - thus saving a return trip home for a forgotten book or video that may be due.
I carry stamps and address labels in my car's glove box. You never know when you might need them. One of our local stores charges extra for postage stamps. They're high enough already!
Keeping Bags from Tipping in your Vehicle
When shopping take an 18 gallon plastic box with you in your vehicle and then you can place your shopping bags in it and thus avoid the bags tipping over and things falling out. By Jo Ann
A really sturdy cardboard box kept in the trunk of your car makes a great catch-all and keeps stuff from rolling around. Make sure you choose a heavy corrugated box
