Pack Luggage 24 Hours In Advance
I always pack my luggage over twenty-four hours in advance when I am taking a trip. I pack everything that I need in the bags. Then I take out the necessary cosmetics, medication, toothbrush, etc. from the bags that I need during the day and night.
When packing shirts or blouses (or even shorts and slacks), in your suitcase, instead of folding them flat try rolling them up. They will not wrinkle nearly as much, and you will actually be able to fit more clothes in your suitcase.
With vacation time just around the corner, now is the time to start planning what you want to take with you. There are a few things you can have ready ahead of time that will end up saving you valuable minutes as you're doing your final packing.
Shower Cap For Storing Makeup When Traveling
When traveling, I put my makeup in a shower cap when I went into the bathroom. Found I like it so much better than my makeup bags. Opens wide and you can easily see where everything is.
To ensure items are not missed when preparing for a trip, I have a spreadsheet with all the items needed to travel, whether for winter or summer. These include personal and business items.
When traveling, I always throw in a few extra quart size zip lock bags. Then when I buy something on the trip, such as lotions or perfumes, I put them in the bag to avoid any dripping or spilling on to my clothing.
Use Oversize Zip Lock Bags in Luggage
I found that I can put a lot more in my suitcase using the vacuum bags sold for food. I ran out of those and bought the XL zip locks and just rolled the air out and it worked just as well.
Organizing in Advance for Traveling
Getting ready for a trip used to be such a hassle for me. Trying to gather up all the necessities, hoping I didn't forget anything, invariably finding out I did forget something. Then I decided to get organized.
Plastic Storage Box for Traveling
We are fortunate to be able to travel for an overnight stay at least once per month due to my husband's membership in a golf club.
My husband's work requires us to move every 4 to 6 months. The entire house and my car is in storage. I am looking for ways to be more organized, so when it's time to move again, I know where things are for the nights we have to stay in hotels.
Space Saving Tips for a Camper or RV
We have a camper that needs storage space. Any ideas as to how we could make more room? We will be traveling and selling our product "on the road".
Craft: Beauty Travel Organizer
Don't you just hate it when you're trying to pack for a European cruise, and you don't know how keep your hair styling tools together. My DH had an old pair of jeans so I cut out two pieces of fabric and sewed a storage case for both my hot hair curling brush and curling iron.
I hate packing! There's so much to do before a trip that this chore is just an added nuisance! So those items that will ALWAYS go on trips with me, I just have them specifically designated for trips, instead of packing them when the time comes.
In 1998, when we were expecting our first grandchild, I made a list of everything I needed to take with me to stay for a week, including my tooth brush and underwear.
I have plain, black luggage, which looks like many others. To identify mine, I took acrylic craft paint, and using a stencil, painted a flower. On the larger pieces, I used the end of a dowel to put pink polka dots on them. They were easily spotted, even at a distance!
Tackle Box For Travel Organizer
This is a travel organizer tip for in your suitcase. Go to the fishing department at (say) Wal-Mart. They have small sized tackle boxes, plastic with sections (on both sides).
When packing to go on Holiday, I prepare a list. I have made up a list of everything that I should bring along and made extra copies of this "TAKE ON TRIPS" list.
Mini Zip Bags for Travel Tip. My husband and I just got back from a trip to the west coast to attend our son's retirement from the Navy after 24 years, then on to our daughter's wedding as well as visiting friends and family. It was a two week trip and we needed to take lots of clothes and accessories with us...
Packing the Kids for Grandma's House
When my kids (5) were younger, and we were going to my mothers for a visit, I made a packing list. This was to make sure I took everything we would need. I marked for each child how many clothes he/she would need, such as 4 pair underwear, 3 t-shirts, also toys, etc. I also did this for my clothes, too.
Planning for a Future Vacation
If you are planning now for a future vacation, do a Google search for the city or area you plan to visit (example: Orlando, Florida) and get contact info for the Chamber of Commerce, Tourism Council, etc. Write or e-mail them and tell them when you plan to visit, and ask them to send you a free "visitor pack".
I always remove my watch, rings and earrings when I go to bed. So as not to lose these valuable item, I slip my rings on to my watch band and close the clasp. Excellent tip when traveling.
