Painting Sauder Furniture?

Can you paint Sauder furniture? I know you "can" paint it, but will it look OK?

My guess is you would have to prime it first. I have never tried it, but on the home decorating shows they almost always advise priming first. You can also buy some paint that has a built in primer.

Yes, definitely prime first, the surface is so slick that it would never stay on if you didn't. I have never used the stuff with built in primer so can't comment on that.

The one thing I do know is that the best primer you can get is Zinsser 123.

You have to lightly sand it first. Ask at hardware store for grit number you should use. Wipe off with tack cloth, prime and paint with spray or brush. Can't stain.
