Painting Walls a Dark Color

August 13, 2007

Painting Walls a Dark ColorWhen you are faced with painting walls that are a dark colour, instead of painting the walls with just white Primer, add the same colour in the Primer that you intend to paint the walls. This will save a lot of time and money in painting the walls a second or even a third coat.

EXCELLENT tip Linda! I've painted a lot over the years.
I could have really benefited from this tip! Sister plans
to do some painting in her home. Can't wait to share the tip!

Something we learned te very hard way (5 coats of paint later) is that when you are painting a room a deep red color, use a gray primer. We thought we were being clever by mixing some of the red in with a white primer (holy pepto-bismol!) but it didn't work at ALL. We later learned that you're supposed to use gray. I never would have guessed.
