The Library Is A Frugal Way To Beat The Heat
For a frugal way to beat the heat, go to your local library. Admission free. Hours of perusing your favorite books and magazines. Cost of a library card to take books, videos, CDs, or DVDs home with you free. Take advantage of the resourceful personnel there. They are happy to be of assistance and can give valuable tips on researching.

Support Your Daycare Provider
In a feedback to another post, I read something that got me all riled up. The person said that many people are willing to pay more for lawn work than for child care or to have the inside of the house cleaned.

14 Month Old Does Not Want to Stop Nursing
My 14 month old son does not want to stop nursing. I really need to go back to work. He nurses with the gusto of a newborn, every 3-4 hours plus some table food. Please don't say to take a feeding that he isn't interested in and try to eliminate that one because he's interested in all of them.

Summer Fun: Take A Walk
This morning, I had to take my van in for a tune up. Instead of having my husband meet me there and drive me home, I decided to walk home with my two boys (8 and 5). It was about 15 blocks through a suburban neighborhood and a beautiful sunny summer morning.

Teaching Children the Value of a Dollar
By Kelly Ann Butterbaugh
In a time when materialism is at a high, the task of teaching children the value of a dollar becomes difficult. Someone recently told me, "What you teach your children in the first ten years of their lives is what molds them into the people they become." I've given this a great deal of thought, and I've decided that I want my son to be a man who understands the value of the things he owns.

Young Teen Birthday Party Ideas
As the mother of seven, four of which are girls, I have thrown more than my share of parties. Each of my girls have very different ideas, hobbies, and passions. So the party themes are varied as well. Please keep in mind that I do not pick a theme on short notice and I am always looking for new and different ideas. Planning and fore thought make for the most successful parties. The longer you have to plan, the cheaper the event.

The Shaving Cream Volcano
Fun recipes for kids, GREAT babysitting idea! Take the body wash and dump it in your bottle. Then take the shaving cream and fill up about 3/4. Fill ALMOST to the top with perfume. THEN SHAKE! Shake harder and harder for a couple of minutes then go outside (or to a sink) and pull off your cap!

Use Glow Bracelets for Nighttime Power Outages
Next time you are at the dollar store, pick up some of those Glo-Bracelets that light up when you crack them. Keep them tucked away to use the next time there is a night time thunderstorm. Just crack a bracelet open, (causing it to light up) and hang it on your little one's door knob. This way, if the electricity goes out during the night, your child will still be able to find their way to their door and then will be able to use the Glo-Bracelet as a little flashlight. My 9 year old daughter thought of this idea on a stormy night!

Store Parenting Essentials in a Separate Backpack
I'm a mom of four young kids and I'm constantly packing a TON OF STUFF with me. When I started feeling like a pack mule in the grocery store, I decided I needed to do something different. I put the bare minimums into a smaller, nicer purse that I'm not embarrassed to carry around in public, and then I got a small backpack for everything else.
