Potholder for Patching Gardening Pants

My husband had a pair of gardening pants which he had worn out at the knees. He asked me if I could mend them. So I decided to visit the dollar store to see if I could find any knee patches. I couldn't find any, but wandered over to the kitchen section and found pot holders (two for $1.00). I stitched the pot holders where he had worn out the knees. He now has mended pants with padding on his knees.

WOW what a great tip-thank-you so much for posting this! My husband has three pair of gardening trousers and I'm going to sew potholders to the knees of every pair even though the knees are still in pretty good condition.

I have mended many Jean knees. The one thing I started doing is ripping open the inside seam of the jeans before I begin. This makes the manipulation of fabric so much easier.

Many things can be used for patches, but this one thing makes it so much easier. When done, just sew the seam back up.
