Getting Rid of Ferret Stains and Odor
Does anyone have suggestions for cleaning ferret stains and odor?

My ferret I recently bought is sick. At first he just stopped playing. He still eats and drinks regularly, but he is really lethargic now and now has diarrhea with a little blood. He's not cleaning himself.
Back in the old days, people fed their ferrets kitten or cat food, instead of ferret food. I was looking at the ingredients, and I saw the protein was less in the cat/kitten food and there was just as much of the other vitamins that were in the cheap ferret food.
Use Tile to Make Cage Cleaning Easier
I picked up a smooth tile to use as a dry erase board, then decided to use it instead for the ferret cage. Although I have a meatloaf pan in the cage for a litter box, I put the tile in the corner where the ferret sometimes goes, and it is so easy to clean up.
Take a storage container, the kind you can slide under a bed (not to do that but easier access for your ferrets) buy plastic Easter eggs, also can be found at garage sales very cheaply or go to dollar tree, even wait till after Easter.
First, go on freecycle.org and get a ferret cage by joining and then offering something like a couple of t-shirts, and then request a used ferret cage, that is two or three stories high, or buy one.

I have been hanging a plastic sandwich bag, open, on the outside of the cage with a 1/8 teaspoon of vanilla in it. It seems to help freshen the area around the cage. Any other ferret freshness ideas?
