To remove the hay or straw debris from the alpaca's drinking pail, use a slotted spaghetti lifter/pasta server. No need to freeze your fingers in the winter!
My new horse has relatively small black lumps on her face, mainly in the space between her eyes and forelock. The vet thought they were either insect irritations or melanomas (she's grey) but said it wouldn't stop her from purchasing her. Anyway, yesterday I noticed that three of the lumps have yellow crusty stuff on them. We put manuka honey on it last night, but that doesn't seem to have made a difference.
I am wanting to get a couple of pygmy goats, mostly for pets but they are also supposed to be good for a free lawn mower and pest control. The breeder that I spoke with said that she doesn't have a shelter and they don't need it either. Is this true?
I have a baby lamb whose mother died from unknown causes. The baby lamb is not feeding from the teat bought from Stock feeders. What can I do to save him?
I have horses. Recently they got rain rot. This is a BACTERIAL, not fungal infection. I have used fungicides in the past for another rain rot infection my mare got 7 years ago. I bathed her every day with topical fungicides and betadines and it took months and months and she lost all her hair. When she got it back recently (as well as her mother), I wasn't going through the fungicide route yet again.
I don't know how many of our readers are of the rural persuasion but I need some suggestions. I need to completely restrain African pygmy and Boer goats for hoof trimming and medication applications. Any suggestions that would work for both sizes of goats and be very inexpensive? I am unable to handle them alone just by tying them up. They have too much maneuvering room! Thanks to all.
I am moving from central California to northern idaho. I need to rent a horse trailer for a one way trip to get my horse there. Anyone know where I can do this?
I am wondering what to use to wash my ponies with. I don't want to buy expensive horse shampoo. I think someone did send this tip in before but I can't find it now & have forgotten.
