Cleaning Badly Burnt Pots and Pans
Don't waste your time scrubbing a badly burned pot. All you need to do is put it outside in direct sunlight for a few days. The burnt food will crust up together, and when you turn it upside down, it will all fall out.
Homemade Disinfectant Spray Cleaner
For just pennies, yes pennies, you can have a disinfectant spray cleaner that is not only green, but frugal as well.
Use Toilet Paper Roll End As Mirror Squeegee
When your TP roll gets down to just a couple layers, take it off and use it for the next time your mirrors steam up! I even used mine for cleaning the mirror with a vinegar/water mix. It makes a nice little squeegy!
For a cheap grass stain remover that truly works, combine equal portions of white vinegar, liquid dish washing soap, and water. Shake well and work the solution into the spot. Let stand a few minutes and then launder as usual.
Remove Water When Cleaning Toilet
To really get your loo clean, use your toilet brush/swab to remove all the water from the bowl. This way your cleanser will come in direct contact with the surface and not get watered down.
Sometimes I just need enough soap from the liquid by the sink for cleaning a cup or plate. I find that when I put the gooped up soap on the spout under the faucet, it's the right amount and saves me lots of soap, as well as keeping it clean!
I buy a lot of cleaning supplies at the Dollar Tree. Six sponges with the scrubby side for a dollar is a good price. But, I have found that they are sometimes too large to fit in some of the smaller places I have to clean.
Cleaning Double Track Window Frame
I had to clean a high double track window frame in a mobile home last week. Getting up that high was not safe, so I devised a way to clean both tracks at once. I simply wet a rag and draped it around the prongs of a spaghetti spoon.
Time For Hanging Laundry Outside
Jump for Joy! Finally! We have been able to hang out some laundry this past week.
For those who love their twist-o-flex watch bands, and for those who might have expandable bracelets, this is a life saver.
Here you see my family room with a retractable clothes line and a nice fire going to dry my laundry. I mounted the retractable line on one wall and used two sturdy hooks so I can get two lines.
Use Pledge For Shiny Painted Countertops
I just completed painting my cream formica countertops to resemble granite. They turned out awesome. The only thing I needed to figure out was how to keep that awesome looking shine on them?
Shine Cookware Handles With Oil
This idea/tip is to make the handles of your cookware look new again. I KNOW that most cookware makers stress NOT to put your cookware in the dishwasher. BUT, when women are working outside the home, every minute counts when getting the dishes/pots done in the kitchen.
Kitchen Cleaning With Loofah's
I've discovered a wonderful way to clean your dishes, sink, pots and pans. It's a loofa! Also spelled loufa, loufah, etc. I grow my own, which is easy to do, but they can also be purchased on the internet, ebay and some "natural" stores.
Reusing Containers for Portable Laundry Supplies
We sold our 3 bedroom home and moved into a 2 bedroom apartment. I'm now using the laundromat in the complex. Every Friday when I did my wash, I had to carry not only the laundry basket but heavy bottles of laundry detergents as well.
Cut an "X" in the tennis ball and slide on the end of the broomstick. To use: Rub the tennis ball over the black scuff marks and watch them disappear.
Cleaning Delicate China Flowers
Want those pretty little delicate china flowers to shine once again? Use a mushroom brush like this one. Cleans them up in a big hurry!
Homemade Duster for Collections
I have so many collections that need to be dusted and I am constantly misplacing my cloth. I came up with the idea to remove the long strap from a cell phone holder (or you could use a purse strap). . .
These are my laundry bins to help my family of 6 separate.
Inexpensive (Earth Friendly) Christmas Gift
I'm a bit low on money this holiday season, so I was trying to think of homemade gift ideas, and came up with this. It's thrifty, it helps recycle, and it's environmentally safe! All great things! I have a few "recipes" for natural, non-toxic cleaners that I got from a co-op natural foods store.
Polishing Mission Oak Furntiure - A Moth with a Mission
Use lemon oil to polish your Mission Oak furniture
Don't Waste Money on That Fancy Dress
It's your child's first birthday and in true fashion you've gone insanely overboard and gotten the best of everything for this special ocassion. Including that $45 dress your husband brought home from Korea which you just can't get enough of. Only that very expensive dress doesn't look as good covered in chocolate frosting! We had our little angel all dolled up and she ended up stripped down to a diaper within an hour. So save your money on the dress and spend it on food and drinks or extra presents. Or better yet a savings bonds.
