Butterfly Sanctuary (Hinsdale, MA)
These photos were taken at a Butterfly sancuary. It was so beautifull! It reminds me of summer, which I am so looking foward to.
Wildlife: Rufous Hummingbird at Mexican Sage
This Rufous Hummingbird really suprised us as we had not seen one before at our location. The beauty of the Mexican Sage's purple blossoms must have attracted him.
This little furry friend helped himself to our wedding cake. I know, he was just hungry, and a squirrel has to eat too, right?
This is a squirrel that visits my parents house three times a day for feeding. I always tell my friends about how she impatiently knocks on the window and demands food but no one ever believes me, until now!
I caught a baby butterfly and put it on my flowers.
I had to have an old dead tree removed from my backyard, and although I knew it had to come down, it was very sad for me. The tree that was taken out was the favorite 'snack bar' for a pair of mated woodpeckers.

This is a bluebird that has been coming to our house for years. At first we thought a few of them were coming around, but when we noticed this one had broken it's beak off, we realized it was the same one day after day (as it is quite the unique character)! Watching it eat is just amazing.
It is our summer break here in South Africa, and we visited "Mystic Monkeys and Feathers", a small zoo next to Tsukudu Lodge. The zoo has all kinds of exotic monkeys and birds on display, but the highlight was the three small lion cubs.
This Anna's Hummingbird was approaching one of our feeders near the kitchen window. I used my telephoto lens from about 10 feet away, inside the house and through the window.

To see these birds in the wild is a thrill. Unfortunately they became rare because their feathers were once used to adorn ladies' hats. Fortunately they are now protected and making a slow comeback.
Wildlife: Mockingbird Visits our Garden
The Mockingbird was enjoying our new fence in the garden. We have many of them in our area. And one can hear them too! They love to sound their presence as they fly and glide about the garden.

If you find a baby animal, that you believe has been abandoned; leave it where it is, unless it is in clear danger. Keep a watch on it from a distance; if need be, place it in a basket of some type to prevent it from crawling off, and watch for the mother to come back to it.
Keeping Birds from Nesting in a BBQ Grill
In a frantic spring of trying to garden, paint my porch and deck and dodging raindrops, I neglected to check my gas grill! I had put duct tape over the holes on the sides of the cover, knowing I could get visitors.

My boss found this Bee's nest (Hornet's?) in a high bush at my work yesterday. I went back on my day off hoping it was still there to take pictures. They were calling an exterminator to remove it.
This is our Baby Owl. It was on our road and wouldn't move when I drove by it so my husband brought it to the house. We fed it then put it up in the woods so it's mother could take care of it. We have people around here that would have probably run over the poor thing.
