Before laundering clothing, close zipper, snap naps, fasteners, and button buttons. That way your zippers and fasteners won't snag other clothing. The best time to do this is before you toss clothing in the dirty clothes hamper.

Closing all fastenings - buttons, zippers, etc - before washing will help the article retain its shape. Do the same every time you hang or fold them as well.

To prevent snagging and tearing your clothing and fabrics in the laundry, make sure that you close all closures like bra hooks, velcro items and even snaps before you throw the items in the laundry.
